I would give them a zero or negative star if it was possible.
I had to get my safety check done. I first went to Jiffy Lube and had it inspected. Inspection passed, but their computer system was down. So I went down the road to Starkey's. Huge mistake! They failed me, they said my front tires needed to be replaced. Did the penny test where you put the penny head upside down into the thread and if you can see the whole top of the head, that's a fail. If part of the hair is in the thread, that's a pass. My tires could have lasted another year. They charged me for the inspection and

I heard about them from Rick Ramada radio show thinking I'm helping a conservative ran business so I brought my car up there to be fixed in late October it is now December my car still haven't been fixed they don't call you back and give you updates so good luck on that I had to call these people once a week just to see what's going on and they'll tell me that they're putting the part in it should be ready that day or the next day they would tell me this every time I called up there it's been 2 months already and still no results this whole time I'm paying for rental cars waiting on my car to be

I'm sure they are nice people but it felt like they were trying to up sell me alot. Said I needed all kinds of repair work before they could pass my safety check. I don't think some of the things they were calling out had anything to do with safety so I went to another location and passed just fine. They were gracious enough to refund me though. I would not recommend this location for safety inspections.

I had an overeheated car at the end of the day and needed to get in right away. They were very friendly on the phone and said I could bring my vehicle in first thing in the morning. I was texted with a very thorough and understandable estimate. The work was done promptly and and the prices were very fair. I will definitely be going to Starkey's for my auto mechanic in Honolulu. Highly recommended.

Don't get me started on Hawaii's yearly safety checks needed for driving a car here.
It's such a pain for the drivers and the dwindling auto shops that still offer this service. Couple of places want you to drop off your car on the morning and pick it up later in the day. What? For a safety check??
So driving around, I saw the yellow safety check sign and just drove in. Practically in and out.
Before going, have your paper work and check that your car is proper.
Park in lot. The friendly lady does the paper work in the office while a person takes your car in the back for inspection

For the longest time, my right turn signal did not work properly. I had taken it into multiple shops that did nothing and had pretty much given up on it for a couple years. Then I brought my car in to Starkey's for a safety check and they actually bothered to try to fix it. It didn't take long and cost a little over $100, still don't know why the other shops were not competent enough to do it Very dependable and reasonably priced, thanks guys!!

Regarding a safety inspection:
I called and left a voicemail message requesting a call back. No return call.
I went to the shop and when the girl (receptionist?) came to the window - there was no greeting, no smile, nothing.
When I asked if I could stay in the car (vs an employee) because of the safety issues with the Covid virus. The girl exhaled and gave me a blank look as if I was asking a ridiculous question. Serious? With Covid, that's a Legitimate question! She did ask someone and said no. I asked if they clean the Inside when done and she said they could wipe down the steering

I was getting my old car ready for my daughter who will be getting her drivers license soon. The car is in relatively good shape, but one of the passenger windows would not go down and the car door handle had broken off.
My mom heard about this place so I gave them a call. I took the car down for them to take a look at what needed to be fixed. The person that I met with was named Bill. Later that day he called me with the estimate and ordered the parts. The parts came in a few days I took the car down to get it fixed and it was quickly completed the same day. I got a safety inspection done here and it was really quick and easy. I filled out a form, gave them my car insurance and registration, and in under 30 min they told me my car had passed the safety inspection. They also gave me a couple coupons for use the next time I go. I made an appointment, but it's not necessary.
