We are open for take-out, curbside pick-up and delivery service Wednesday-Sunday from 7:00am-2:00pm. Inspired by words like "homemade" and "handcrafted, " the two brothers behind up-RYES strive to inject new energy into traditional deli-style food by adding their own techniques and approach to flavor.
The life they both shared with a serious food connoisseur plus years of hands-on experience pouring their love into food and service make a visit to this deli & bakery something you won't want to miss. Bread is everything to us. The oldest method of making bread involves a fermentation process that not only increases the shelf-life of baked bread but also creates a more complex flavor.

You can't talk about Jared and Price Kushner without also reminiscing about their father, Michael, and not only because Jared is a "Mini Mike" as Price affectionately points out. You could call Michael a "foodie" but that just barely scratches the surface. He had an obsession with great, homemade food which was an undeniably huge part of Price and Jared's childhood and beyond.
The origins of the up-RYES starter, or "mother dough, " can be traced back to Price's work at Acme Bakery in San Francisco in 1995. From there it was used to bake true French sourdough at the Old Chatham Inn in upstate New York where he ran the bakery. Five years later the same starter contributed to the first bread baked in the brick oven at Primo in Rockland, Maine, the farm-to-table restaurant Price founded and co-owned for seventeen years.
Here at Up Ryes we want to assure you that we are taking every precaution to ensure the safety of our guests and team. It is our mission to serve the local community our fresh baked bagels, breads, and more. We pour our love and passion into every single dish. In order to continue to fulfill our mission, we have decided NOT to open our restaurant for indoor dining to ensure the safety of our customers and team members.

Amazing food and service! This place rocks! The breakfast sandwiches are incredible! The bagels are really good. Everything I've had there has been top notch. You can tell that they really care about the product they are putting out and that they want to make their customers happy. Can't recommend up-RYES enough! Check it out and you won't be disappointed.

I stopped by here after hearing about it from someone. I was curious to see how these handmade bagels were. When I walked in it smelled so absolutely amazing. All the bagels looked absolutely delicious, no skimping on the seasoning here. It was even more to my delight that there were non-dairy offerings. I got the everything bagel with vegan cream cheese. It was an absolute delight. The bagels are not too tough, they Rose incredibly well, and you can taste the freshness. I will be back and recommending this to others in the area.

This place is a gem for a taste of NY. It's an occasional treat because it's really pricey for bagels but soooo good every once in a while. I love the everything bagel with scallion cream cheese and NY Lox. The biscuit sandwich with brisket and egg is superb. Good pastries including hard to find babka too.

My friend and I recently discovered this breakfast spot close to Bryn Mawr college and it has become a go to--dangerous for my wallet but pleasing for my stomach.
Between the two of us, we have sampled the nova bagel with exquisite lox, the biscuit with turkey sausage, and the Lancaster sandwich. All of the savory items we have tried thus far have not disappointed. I will say that the pastry I got was a bit dry and I will most likely stick to the breakfast sandwiches.
Overall, up-ryes is a great spot and I would recommend to anyone looking for a hardy and delicious breakfast.

Still not a fan of the counter ordering system but, thanks to Covid I think, there's a great way to order from their webpage and have the food delivered curbside.
I've done this several times while out walking my dog and it's worked great. Today I actually brought my pup inside to place an order and had them bring it out to us at a table outside. Even got a slice of bacon for the dog!
The staff is always nice, and I do love the eggs sandwiches here. My dog recommends the bacon as well!

This place is a joke. I have ordered from them multiple times and have never once gotten the order I placed; they will always make a mistake. This happened 3 times back to back to back; the last time I ordered a bagel with JUST nutella and was given a bagel with nutella and CREAM CHEESE. Not only am I allergic to cream cheese, but the idea that someone would even combine those two ingredients is disgusting. Other orders have included missing items and replacing them with something else. The wait time and price is not worth this garbage. I also sent a customer review directly to them to complain

Was craving a bagel this morning and up-RYES more than satisfied it. Can definitely tell they are made in store and do get the garlic and herb cream cheese. Store was busy but didn’t take me more than 10 minutes to get in and out. Very well staffed and they were very friendly. Can’t wait to go back!

This is a great place for a good ol'fashionned bagel eats! The food here is well-priced, delicious, and very filling. However, the atmosphere and the service can be improved somewhat.
Atmosphere: This place is located right beside the Bryn Mawr post office, near the public library, and the local hospital. This all means that the place can be pretty busy and packed at all hours of the day. The place is bustling with customers and the employees so everything feels a little rushed. Although my biggest issue has to do with the line. There are signs that indicate where to lineup for either ordering

Bagels are okay but nothing special. However they just can't get the order right. They charge $1 for adding a slice of onion or tomato. Okay, I paid the freight. Wait was reasonable. Sandwich was acceptable but absent the tomato. I really wouldn't have cared except that I paid a premium for tomato that wasn't there. So I went back in to ask for the money back. The manager was downright rude. She gave me my two bucks and we had it out. Second week in a row they couldn't get the order right and they don't seem the least concerned. Not an acknowledgment or an apology. If

We had a very good experience our first time ordering from up-RYES. I placed an order to pick up two sandwiches. One was the Hungry Jack brisket sandwich and the other was an egg and cheese on a biscuit. Unfortunately, we didn't get to eat these when they were at their freshest (our own fault). However, everything tasted really great! Oddly enough, we didn't even try a bagel, but the challah bread and biscuit that the sandwiches came on were very good. Probably would be even better right after they were made.
The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because it's a little bit pricey

While out shopping we were looking for a breakfast/lunch stop and found up-RYES was nearby. The Hungry Jack sounded amazing to me (I got it without the aioli), my wife had the Brisket biscuit, and we each ordered a bagel (all to-go.)
The good: the Hungry Jack was amazing. Really don't know what to say. Eggs were just right, it was loaded, but not messy, spicy tomato jam was delicious, and the Challah bun was light, but held together. (I gave the biscuit a try which was also good, but I preferred my sandwich).
The "eh": I'll take this as a bit of my fault. We got home, unpacked

I stopped in for a few bagels and a cup of coffee to go.
I was excited to see they served La Colombe coffee and decided to get a vanilla latte. It was nicely flavored and wasn't too sweet, which I appreciated.
I ordered a few chocolate chip bagels to go. They smelled so good that I couldn't wait until I got home and tried a bagel in my car. It was delicious!!!
Most importantly, my experience was COVID-safe and the staff was kind and welcoming. The woman at the register was super sweet.
I would definitely stop in again!

I've been on a bagel tour of the area trying to find the best bagels, even if different places do different varieties better than the others. Since I arrived at up-Ryes close to noon yesterday, they understandably had fewer varieties and quantities left than earlier in the day, but they did have a good number of chocolate chip left so I snagged three of those. My sister and I also got hot drinks to go.
-Chocolate Chip Bagel: Crisp exterior, reasonable chew, and nice distribution of chocolate chips throughout. I saw a large case of Hershey's chocolate chips on the shelves so I assume

Review based on bagel pick up: Cute little spot that has outside seating. They offer a good selection of bagel and cream cheese options. Bagels were fresh and flavorful.
Appears to be a popular spot. Often time outdoor seating was taken. They also offer sandwiches and salads and had the option for contactless pick up.
Plenty of parking across the street. Highly recommend

I've now dined at Up-Ryes twice and the bagels keep me coming back for me. The bagel shop is very cozy with wooden accents throughout. They serve plenty of coffee concoctions as well as can sodas and seltzers. For the Philly locals, they sell La Columbe coffee.
The menu has plenty of bagel combinations, deli sandwiches, omelets and more. They have about 15 bagel varieties available ranging from chocolate chip and pumpernickel to my personal favorite of everything.
The ordering process takes a little bit of time, hence the 4 star rating. You can tell that's everything is made on demand

First time Here . Wasn’t sure what to expect. We went in around 1 pm and it was pretty busy. (Always a great sign) there were people outside on the front patio eating and laughing. It has a pretty nice menu and the people were very friendly working even though they were busy. We ordered a schooly and a brisket sandwich. Both were moist and plentiful. We got a lot for the money, which is totally unusual for anyplace in Bryn mawr. Great location and huge parking lot across the street. Will def not be our last time there.
I recommend this quaint restaurant.
Update. We stopped in again to have
