Saint Joseph High School
Our Partners in Mission are comprised of highly educated and talented individuals who truly care about the success and well-being of the Saint Joseph students. Adding Religion and the Arts to the traditional S.T.E.M. program creates a more holistic and interdisciplinary curriculum. Rooted in global awareness, it empowers students to find creative solutions to real-world problems.

The Formation Program at Saint Joseph High School is designed to address non-traditional educational components that are vital to our students' development but are not covered in the normal curriculum.
Services
Saint Joseph is operated by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, who have been active in American education since their arrival from Lyons, France in 1847. The faculty consists of exceptional lay and religious educators with over 70% holding advanced degrees.

Saint Joseph admits students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin or creed and is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and by the National Association of Independent Schools. We are located on 77 acres in Metuchen and Edison, NJ and we offer our students exceptional academic, athletic, and extracurricular programs.
Saint Joseph High School has lay and religious Partners in Mission, and is under the direction of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, a international religious order founded in 1821 by Father Andre Coindre in Lyon, France. In 1901, the Brothers' Residence was purchased in Metuchen, NJ. From 1901 to 1961, it served as a center for training and educating Brothers of the Sacred Heart prior to their apostolate in Catholic education.
The mission of Saint Joseph High School is to form young men, preparing them for life through holistic education in the Catholic traditions of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. The 200-year tradition of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart is grounded in a holistic approach to education. We believe that young persons learn from their total experience of the school setting.
Christian values are inherent in all disciplines. Through the articulation of these values and through efforts to discover the mystery of God's self-revelation in all branches of learning, the teacher brings a Christian perspective to the classroom. We believe that classroom prayer is a means of making students more conscious of the presence of God in creation, in daily events, in others, and in the learning process.
Since 1821, the Brothers of the Sacred Heart have lived our founder, Father Andre Coindre's, vision which was to educate and lead young people. Today, all of the teams employed by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart schools, religious, lay faculty, and support staff are called Partners in Mission, as they work to embody in their educational service to young people the substance of Father Coindre's original charism.

I am a Proud Momma of the class of 2020. We stayed at St Joes because it offers great discipline and academics. They have high expectations of the boys. It has a lot of female teachers and the Principal is a woman which gives the boys a good balance. They also have hired young alumni teachers who relate to the boys so well. The older alumni… staff give the boys a sense a being a part of something special and wisdom. I found St Joes responded to my concerns about formation, and offered events during the school hours focused on racism, dating, and the responsibility of those who are blessed

As an alumni of St. Joes class of 97, we were reminded daily of excellence, leadership, commitment and community. Where excellence is a habit not a goal. The current administration at St Joes specifically Mike Murray lacks leadership to lead this school into the future. The St Joes way is lost. As a current parent I’ll look else where for a school to show my sons and daughters excellence and leadership.

Had an amazing high school experience. would recommend this school to anyone. I'd say most young guys immediately turn this place down because there's no girls but truthfully it didn't even phase me. and classrooms are a lot more fun if you don't have to worry about impressing girls. probably easier to learn as well

I had a few friends that graduated from here along with going to some games there and track meets. Their facilities are very impressive and the excellence they require in sports I have always hated competing against them. No matter the sport they always seem to have a quality program.

As a parent I wish my son was entering now as a freshman vs now being a senior. The changes in administration and policies now in place are great as they focus on a solid tier education but also strong on campus ministry. Offering many leadership opportunities. I have always received same day responses for any question or concern.

The brotherhood, leadership, and partnership purported by the school has not yet been realized for my son. Disappointing. I find staff and leadership are slow to respond and tend to easily dismiss the notion of great customer service when interacting with parents. Still waiting and praying for the promise the school delivered on the tours and family meetings to be realized. Our son is destined for greatness. When he looks back, it would be wonderful to know St. Joseph had a hand in his growth and development.

I currently attend SJHS. This is a well built community, built on the history of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. The teachers are helpful and understanding, as well as the other staff. We have a great time developing our social lives, athletic lives, and acedemic lives.

The track is now closed to the public. Most of the trees have been cut down, making the area very windy.

As A Former Student graduating in 2014 I can say it was the biggest mistake and waste of four years of a time in my life of development. Not only are they critical of criticism, this review probably will not get posted. Make sure you do your research before attending this establishment.

I attended Saint Joseph H.S. from 2005-2009. Their accelerated and AP courses were excellent, as well as their clubs, honors societies, athletic programs, and guidance department. A combination of these things and a lot of hard work helped me get accepted to Carnegie Mellon (which I ended up attending) as well as 9 of the 13 Universities that I applied to.

Great faculty here. They really help you to prepare for college and succeed in the future. Their motto Excellence is a habit not a goal has really stuck with me throughout college and my career. I always strive for the best and I have St. Joseph High School to thank for that. I would recommend any parent to send their children here.
