Unless you're super fit, you won't be able to keep up with road bikes if you're on a mountain bike or cruiser. And a road bike can't handle trail riding like a machine made for it. The gang at Foothill Cyclery really go the extra mile. My experience with them started November of 2016. I purchased a bike online and was looking for a shop to service it. I tried the other local shops in town and they wouldn't give me the time of day. See the problem was it was an E-bike and at the time the other shops were way to elite to be bothered with a "cheater". Josh, on the other hand, welcomed me happily and since then (5 bikes--3 e-bikes and 2 full suspension mountain bikes--and countless accessories later) has more than made that first positive experience pay off

Employees are quick to greet customers, and quick to ascertain customer's reason for coming in. I have only used the service so far, and each technician has been quick to discuss the bike's issues and give opinions on potential cause, optional fixes, estimated service times, and costs. A great bike shop!
I would love FC to offer a basic class for newbies on general mtb bike maintenance, adjustments, etc.

Josh or Jeremy? Helped with my son's bike. He turned it up, explained several things to us and it was an overall excellent experience. We were told the tuneup would take three days and instead it was done the next day. Couldn't be happier. I also purchased a truck mat. A young lady tall blonde and another gentleman how to install the mat and both of them one above and beyond. Very kind and helpful employees.

Many experiences at this bike shop that have all been very positive. We have bought 3 bikes and have had repairs and tune ups done here all with excellent results. They don’t seem to have a high personnel turnover and all are very knowledgeable.
Josh, the owner is also very assessable.

I rented a bike online from Foothill (Trek road bike). and the process was simple. I showed up, bike got minor adjustments, pedals and off I went. The local shop pro was kind enough to direct me to a couple local rides that would give me a good work out and some sweet pretty views - both didn't disappoint. The bike was in good working order, shifted when I asked & the Foothill waterbottle was a nice momento of the experience. I'm very happy with the whole experience!

So when I attended Cal Poly before yelp, like over two decades ago, I bought various parts for a road bike, later a mountain bike bought there, including tires, inner tubes, tools, etc.... I have always received great service and advice there. Even with a recent visit, I bought spare inner rubes and a tire, after destroying back tire on Poly Canyon.
When you visit there, there are some tools and a floor pump near the front door available for you to use.

The best bike shop in the county! Everyone is super knowledgeable and can help you with your every day bike needs! If you are looking for a kids bike, commuter, or you're a serious roadie or mountain biker they've got you covered! Really great bike shop in SLO. Excellent customer service beginning to end. I called them to see if they had any Hybrids in stock and they did so I drove 3 hours to get one. When I arrived they were busy but acknowledged my presence and said they would be with me in a few minutes (totally get it as all bikes shops!). The girl that ended up helping me out was super nice. She let us ride it behind the store which was nice. They also checked it out before letting me take it home. You can tell they all take a lot of pride in their shop and love sharing local trail tips etc. I highly recommend this

Josh, Sam, and the boys (and girls) at Foothill Cyclery are simply the best. I bought a bike on-line, brought it to them for service and right away they were super helpful (unlike two of the other bike shops in town that shunned me like I was a leper.)
Since then I've bought 3 bikes from them, and have all of my bikes serviced there. They are my bike shop for sure-you should make it yours!

WOW - I don't even know where to start. I walked in to Foothill Cyclery with my brother who had just had his bike tire stollen. So needless to say he was in a low place not very happy with the cards he was delt that day.
We were greeted by Josh and from there our whole day just shifted... in the best way possible. Josh has a quick whit and inviting pretense about him. He began to tell us a story that I will never, ever forget. It made my brother and I laugh so hard... I'm still laughing about it. He was real. It wasn't forced it was to the core REAL customer service.
