We were married at the Berkeley City Club in November of 2021, and it was the most magical and lovely wedding anyone could hope for!
We started looking for venues in January of 2020, and toured one or two before we visited the City Club. We pretty much knew it was our spot from the second we walked through the door. Julia Morgan's "Little Castle" is exactly that; romantic, elegant, intimate yet large enough for a medium-sized wedding like ours. I haven't seen architecture as beautiful anywhere else in the Bay Area, and the price was on the high end of our budget but still affordable

We were only there for one night unfortunately. Just a short stop for a longer trip. We didn't run in to any staff that wasn't friendly or helpful.
The style of the room was clean and pretty cool and it was big enough for the two of us to spread out. The balcony was big enough and the view was better than most city hotels.

I went to a tango milonga a few weeks ago and the floor was fantastic, a little bit slippery, but nice. They do other kinds of meetings, but I'm not sure about those... If you wanna learn tango, come to La Bruja, they gather at this spot every Wednesdays in the evening

Wonderful place, almost magical in its atmosphere. The food is quite lovely -- appealing in presentation and rather tasty. Service however is sorely lacking in attention, grace, and professionalism.

We used the Berkeley City Club for our wedding venue. Madison was our coordinator leading up the wedding, and was clear and prompt in all of her communications. The venue itself is so classic; we brought in minimal decorations, since the venue itself is so beautiful. Our dinner was fantastic, and the kitchen was extremely accommodating with dietary restrictions.
And the staff is so so so friendly. I can’t stress this enough. During our wedding, we all felt that everyone there was also having a good time along with us. Seeing their happiness and excitement for us really added to the event.

I just became a member two months ago. It's a gorgeous play to go to and swim, and just soak in the exquisite Julia Morgan architecture and the collection of chinoiserie they have collected over the years. They have interesting activities, like painting and voice coaching. The pool is divine and very few people ever there. I looked into accomodations for friends and the value you get is unbelievable. The following are pics of a suite, which with the member discount would have come to only about 200 per night.

Very happy with our stay here, the architecture and amenities to the hotel make it feel like a 4-5 star resort, but at much more reasonable rates. The columned courtyard and second floor library made for elegant remote work spaces, and the location (short walk to downtown, UC campus, and restaurants) cannot be beat.

We stayed here during a recent trip to Berkeley.
Very nice and clean with great architectural details. Beautiful courtyard gardens to relax and acceptable breakfast included in the price.
Nice staff. We needed a change a date to our reservation just a day before getting here, and we were allowed to check out little later than the time. Lots of interesting places to eat nearby. Good sunset views over SF.

Stayed here after flying in on no sleep from east coast. Put me in a room right next to a wedding receptions. Couldn't hear myself think. but heard every toast and wedding song the band played. Asked for a room change. they were sold out. The wedding would be over by midnight. dont ever stay here unless you are part of the wedding. No sleep no fun. Super loud and very annoying.

I had the pleasure of being a guest at Berkeley City Club. A close friend is a member and took me to lunch at Julia's. We sat at their outdoor dining area. Beautiful weather and it was the perfect Berkeley weather. The service was exquisite. The food was delicious. We started with les pommes de terre frites (it was the perfect French fries, skinny & crispy!). Then we both ordered the Salmon salad special (pictured). For dessert we opted to share the lemon Crème brûlée (perfection) accompanied by coffee. I can't wait to return. Next time I'd love to try the dinner menu. I enjoyed

We arrived at the City Club on Thursday June 18, 2021 around 3:00 PM. This is a wonderful get away location we have cherished and sponsored several months a year for the past 10 years. We have appreciated this place for its historical architecture for its historical decor and friendly staff.
Sadly, this place has changed.
Eventhough after reopening its doors after the COVID-19 related closure, the architecture remains intact in its outside, inside it is a completely different story. Before we address the inside I must stay how disappointing it was walking in the premise and being received "

We recently had our wedding here on 3/13/21. My husband and I are so grateful for Berkeley City Club and the staff that assisted with our special day.

Not only was the venue flexible and accommodating, but made planning a wedding during a pandemic very easy. We primarily worked with Heather for the majority of the wedding planning- not only was she professional, but also supportive and so kind. Madison took over for our rehearsal and day of and she was equally kind, supportive, and professional. The entire staff the day of were professional, communicative, and flexible.

The venue itself is beautiful

What an amazing piece of history nestled alongside UC Berkeley's campus!

I have seen a few photos from the Berkeley City club's instagram, but they mainly feature the Julia Morgan Restaurant, the indoor pool (currently closed), and their courtyard for private events.

I loved the character and charm embodied by the little castle! It was welcoming and cozy, and the staff was welcoming while remaining respectful of the social distancing protocols. Upon check in, you receive a small packet of hand sanitizer and disenfectant wipes. Elevator capacity is limited to one-household, and masks

I am writing to give a huge thank you to Heather Ratner. COVID has made traveling increasing complicated. When I booked my stay, I was very concerned about logistics and safety. Heather was so patient and understanding; it felt like she was working out my plans with me and I left that phone call feeling reassured and extremely confident in my decision to stay at the Berkeley City Club. Unfortunately, the day before I was supposed to arrive, I found out that my flight had been canceled due to COVID concerns. I called the hotel, and didn't know what to expect but, once again, the phone was answered

My family and I had such a lovely experience with the Berkeley City Club. I decided to go through with a small wedding this August despite all the limitations of Covid-19. The BCC events coordinator, Heather, really pulled out all the stops to make it a special day for us out on their terrace. Delicious food and drinks were served in a safe and thoughtful way. My guests were able to sit outside with the right amount of distance between us but an atmosphere that brought us together. We even got to dance! Thanks to BCC for making it happen.

I wish I could give this place 10/5 stars for the amazing service, great care, accommodating and kind staff alone... but add to that the stunning building and incredible views... it would break Yelp, I would give them so many stars!

We got engaged the week everything shut down. After searching for somewhere that offered a refund for Covid aka "acts of God" (I think that's what most places call that kind of cancellation), my fiancé stumbled across this place and their prices were very reasonable, their refund policy beat the other places, the couches in the members lounge make for

My husband and I were supposed to get married at Berkeley City Club this past weekend, but of course COVID had different plans haha.. Instead, we had a small backyard ceremony and spent our wedding night at Berkeley City Club - it was absolutely perfect! The front office staff, Adrianna, was so kind to us when we got there and made sure we felt welcome. Once we got to our room, we were surprised with some champagne and mini desserts to congratulate us! It was so sweet and definitely made the evening extra special.

In regards to COVID, there were hand sanitizing stations everywhere and everything

My sister and I stayed here for a one night stay after driving up from LA. The hotel is BEAUTIFUL! The gentleman who checked us in was very nice and gave us a quick history of the building. We dropped our items in our room and took a look around and the grounds.
There were hand sanitizers near the elevators and doors and they even gave us sanitizing wipes when we checked in which was awesome. I can't wait to come back for a longer stay and more time to appreciate the architecture.

We couldn't be more grateful to the Berkeley City Club team for providing us such a beautiful venue for our ceremony and reception and helping us bring our wedding vision to life! When we first saw the venue, we immediately fell in love. The architecture and classic, romantic atmosphere matched perfectly with our vision. Victoria was incredible to work with and so flexible; ensuring every detail was exactly what we wanted and how we wanted it. The team the day of from catering, to hospitality, executed flawlessly. This venue and the team are the very best and we will be back often to visit

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at the Berkeley City Club this past June. While the wedding was beautiful and we loved spending the day with our friends and family, the 1.5+ year journey leading up to our wedding working with the BCC was less than smooth.

The good things first:

The venue is stunning. The terrace was the perfect spot for the ceremony (when you cover the side opening with curtains to block views of the parking lot and free clinic) - it allows you to have an outdoor ceremony while still being covered from the sun. The library for cocktail hour is gorgeous. The reception

Victoria was amazing at helping us seamlessly organize everything we needed and wanted. Pricing was transparent and the event went on without a hitch. Everyone here was incredibly friendly, accommodating, and easy to work with. The staff is full of seasoned pros who know how to get an event put together.

Then there was the FOOD. We were a bit hesitant to ask a French chef make Indian food for

As mentioned in most reviews, The Berkeley City Club is an impressive example of Julia Morgan's work. This might only matter to you if you know her buildings dotted all over the East Bay.

The lobby, indoor swimming pool and lounge areas were impressive when I arrived on a rainy day. The elevator is funky. And then you step out into a barren, awkward foyer/hallway onto the guest floors. My room was small with a huge closet and tiny, updated bathroom.

The bed and bedding were very comfortable and it was easy to sleep. My complaint is with the heating and lack of electrical outlets. There was

Bay Area Gem of a venue.

I hosted a Bridal Tea Party for my daughter in the Drawing Room. We used several of the venue tables charming wood chairs to create one long grand table. House linens were nice so why rent. I simply brought an burlap overlay to create a look I wanted. This room has a lovely patio off of it to enjoy and we had our our private extra large restroom/ powder room. Street parking is only 2 hours but most of us parked in public parking at 2315 Ellsworth St which is at corner just few feet away from venue. I paid $6.00 for all day parking . A few guest found $5.00 lot for parking

We stayed here before a work-related conference at UC Berkeley the next day.

Many things were awesome, including: easy to make a reservation at a good rate over the phone with a friendly lady, the beautiful architecture, the parking lot, the awesome city and water view out our window, the easy access to campus (quick and cheap to catch a ride in the am, nice and easy to walk home in the pm). The bed was amazingly comfortable, the hallways quiet, and the staff and guests super nice and friendly. And since we arrived late and left early, we didn't even get to use all the amenities, which looked
