Services
Throughout the many years that I've been a massage therapist, several issues have come up continually, resulting in my formulating ideas as to causes of certain almost universal problems and some great ways to approach solving them. So here are some tidbits of information that might be helpful to you.
Stiff necks come from a multitude of causes, from sleeping wrong or having to crane our necks at a seminar to the most common causes: hours spent staring at a computer screen and just plain poor posture. The ultimate result is the same. We find that we cannot turn our heads without pain or we are just too stiff to turn our heads at all.
A pinched nerve is the term commonly used to describe the impact on a nerve from a muscle "injury" (often seemingly caused by the littlest misstep) that results in inflammation and swelling and splinting of the surrounding muscles. This is often knife-like pain, frequently accompanied by an unremitting dull aching, or even spasm s.
Plantar fasciitis is an inflammatory condition occurring on the sole of the foot (the plantar surface), caused by fiber breakdown in the vertical band of collagenous connective tissue (fascia) that runs from the toes to the heel bone (calcaneous). It occurs when the longitudinal arch of the foot becomes overstressed and tight, and often the pain is particularly felt at the anterior portion of the heel.
Repetitive motion injuries commonly occur in the workplace where we are repeating a particular motion or series of motions without benefit of ideal ergonomics. This causes extraordinary muscle tightness, eventually stressing the joint(s) and nerves feeding those structures. Usually these issues occur after years of repeating a physical activity, day in and day out, for hours every day.

Susan’s massage is highly customized to each client’s specific and unique situation. I have had many instances of pain that would not respond to PT, medication, chiropractic, etc. Susan’s years of experience and her deep knowledge of various touch methodologies were a lifesaver and key components to helping me live a healthier, happier life!

As a client of Susan's for 15 years, I highly recommend her for theraputic massage services. I began visiting her when I was training for my first marathon, since then I have continued with my visits as i have found them to be very helpful. She takes the time to find out how you are doing/what is bothering you to tailor the focus of the appointment to your needs.

I've been seeing Sue Kaufman for quite a number of years on a weekly basis. She has helped me immeasurably. I used to have numerous issues with lower back or other muscle issues and now, with a combination of exercise, better diet and regular massage, I am in much better shape. She is attentive to my specific issues and I recommend her highly.

As a former professional ballet dancer, I know the importance of proper alignment. Susan is one of the most knowledgeable, concerned, diligent massage therapists with whom I have ever worked. Always professional, she strives to understand each individual’s needs and concerns. After every session I feel not only more relaxed, but rejuvenated and more connected to my body - which is a great way to face the world.
