Dispatch, the guy answering your call, is hopelessly disorganized and grunts at you like he wished you would hang up. I reserved a cab for the next morning, and Berkeley Yellow Cab lost the reservation -- I called when they didn't show up and "Oh my God" said the new guy on dispatch: they no record of it.
The driver himself was fine, but what good is that if you can't count on them showing up?!

Frustrating.
Before you read the review below, my update is that when a driver finally came, he was very professional, courteous and friendly -- and got me to my destination promptly. I'm revising my rating to 2 stars.
Lazy or stupid? Hard to say.
I waited inside the house for the cab to arrive, since they said 25-30 minutes, and I couldn't just sit out on the street and wait for them.
Apparently, the driver arrived at some point but did not get out of his cab when he arrived at my house. I don't have a window onto the street, so I had no idea he was here. The front door was

TERRIBLE TAXI EXPERIENCE
Driver refused to accept credit card and then proceeded to take a huge detour to an ATM when I knew full well there was an ATM directly on our way which would require zero deviation from the quickest route.
After paying my fare in cash the driver (Mukreet Singh) did not give me the full amount of change.
Sleazy, slow and dishonest - don't use them.

I would actually just give them 0 stars. I called at 6:10 and they said 10-15 minutes. I called again at 6:30 asking if they were coming and they were very rude but said it was on its way. I called again at 6:40 and they ignored my call! And the one after that! They finally showed up at 6:45 and honked at me, didn't even apologize for how late they were. Then they asked if they could take me to the airport when I said multiple times that I wanted to go to the BART. Worst taxi service ever. It was ridiculous

We love Yellow Express Cab and have always used them as a means to get from Berkeley to SFO and back home again since moving to Berkeley in 1989! They have always been on time (or early) and have taken much of the anxiety and worry out of getting to the airport on time. I much prefer them to Bay Porter or the other services that pick up a bunch of people and are often late. Well worth the money!
