I went early on Friday day about 2 years ago to get a nice tent spot on the river. As the day and evening went on it got more and more crowded but nothing too bad. We awoke in the middle of the night to the sound of someone making camp. When we woke early in the morning to lots of music and chatter we stuck our heads out of the tent only to be horrified by the number of new tents that popped up overnight! We were surrounded and they were walking through our campsite and cooking right next to our tent. There were multiple cars all playing loud different varieties of Latino music so that it sounded

A lite more shade trees on the center sites would be nice, but great location. Butch was great explaining the grounds and allowed us to drive thru to look around. Would love a river site but they are not available most of the time or maybe all the time??? Will call tomorrow to talk to Abby I believe Butch said could help set us up.. Great History of Watermelon Park. Would love to go back when they have entertainment. Thanks Butch you were awesome... Hope to see you all soon.

The river was extremely shallow both times we have been but the weather was perfect. Such a wonderful place to relax and unwind. Beautiful scenery and the staff are very accommodating.

Prepare for a fun day, but then prepare to have your credit card billed twice and to be talked to rudely by the "manager" when their billing is questioned. The "manager" told me he would refund my $, and then told me I had better never "F'ing" show my face there again. Wow. This place is a scam. If you go, whatever you do, pay with cash or be prepared for a hassle and then to be insulted. My friends and I used to go here a lot, no more. We will find somewhere else to take our money. Good riddance.

DID NOT HONOR RESERVATION WHILE POCKETING MY DEPOSIT. While some may have a positive impression of Watermelon RV Park and the owner of the RV Park. The RV Park did not honor my reservation over the week of Memorial Day - a reservation made six months in advance (28 Nov 2020) on their online website, and further refused to refund to me the deposit on the reservation. Upon speaking to the manager one-week prior to our reservation, the manager was extremely rude, callous and insulting. When I offered to provide email copies of both my reservation confirmation and transaction deposit receipt as proof

Cool place! Lazy river tubing. About $22 a person for a tube and a ride up river. You can also get cooler floats and bring your own drinks. They have a little shop to buy water, Gatorade, soft drinks, and a few snacks and candy. Plenty of parking, check their website for hours and closures, we went once and they were closed, our fault. The staff is helpful!

I've been going to Watermelon Park for toobing for 14 years. It's an amazing drift down the Shenandoah. What houses there are near by can barely be seen from the river, one is surrounded by nature. If you like nature and being in water it is the perfect escape.
On a typical summer day the float will take about 2 hours, the river is slow and only a couple of feet deep. Go on weekdays if you can to avoid crowds. Be sure to make reservations.
The staff are all friendly and very helpful. I cannot recommend Watermelon Park enough.

Great place for camping. Mostly quiet. Large space between campsites and space to play games. There are no sewer hookups so that is something you need to remember. There is a dump station on the property.
Only thing for us - zero phone service or internet. If that's not an issue for you, then great place to go.
The road to get there might be a concern for large RVs - narrow roads and overhanging trees. We hit some branches and the way in and out and luckily had no damage.
There is tubing adjacent to the camping. We didn't go but saw that it was very busy.
Plenty of wineries nearby which makes

This is an ok campground that was made special by the Festivals held there, which recalled the place's roots. When Covid hit, they decided they didn't need the festivals any longer, and a great festival place has turned into a less than mediocre camping experience.
Go tubing in Harper's Ferry. You'll like it better. There are also significantly better camping experiences to be found.

Just returned from our first ever RV trip. The fall in VA. Is a popular destination for campers and we were fortunate to get a spot here for the week. We loved it. The setting by the Shenandoah River was beautiful and peaceful. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and even on a full weekend, the grounds were quiet after dark. We will be back!

Went tubing. They had minimal COVID precautions in place. None of the staff wore masks. The line for the bus was jam packed with no spacing. The bus was filled with people with no spacing. One of the staff implied COVID is a conspiracy.

I went tubing 3 years ago and didn't even get half way through before it rained. We had to evacuate and were given a rain check with no expiration date on such rain check. They wrote on my waiver for a rain check. Pretty legit huh. Nothing was said about a expiration date or time frame. As I would have asked for a refund instead. I spoke to a Darren whom I asked how to spell his name and he replied with "however you'd like" I asked him 3 times how to spell his name and he wouldn't answer me. He said he's the manager and he's a high up as you can go and he cannot

Great park, especially for tubing! It's a short distance of river that you tube (when I went) but they don't limit your time on the water which is super nice!! Employees were very friendly, however, they weren't wearing masks & in the midst of a pandemic it just seemed irresponsible (which is why they are only receiving 3 stars). It also makes me wonder if they are properly disinfecting equipment. But other than those two things it's a good covid outdoor activity.

This park is amazing. I don't know WHAT the other reviewers are talking about. We just had our second seasonal visit to the campground and it was perfect. We like to stop by on a long kayak trip down the Shenandoah and this place feels like home. First, Amy and the rest of the staff are friendly, hospitable and courteous. Secondly, the grounds are kept in pristine conditions. Even the bathrooms! I will definitely go back again and again!

We went on Thursday July 4th and was going to use 3 Certifikids for this park. The coupons stated for use Monday-Friday with times and did not say anything about not for use on holidays. Their website also did not say anything about not using them on holidays.

When we arrived there was a sign at the check in booth "No Certifikids" and when I asked them to proceed with using them due to no notation about holidays on them, the girl pushed back. I asked for a Manager and explained to her the situation and she said that they just updated the Facebook page this morning stating Certifikids

Upon coming off the Appalachian Trail we decided to stay at this campground and celebrate our buddies birthday. We were a bit loud after hours and had no problem with keeping noise down after we were impolitely asked. The owner tells us to "shut the f*** up!" During the night the owner URINATED in my tent and woke us up with a bulldozer and foul language. Also called the police whom did nothing about it but laugh. Don't stay here. Over priced and really trashy. If you aggravate the owner he URINATES on your items. Overpriced and not worth it!!!

Fantastic camping. Had a great "Boys" weekend. The tubing could be longer only 45min. (Fast water flow do to recent storms) but the staff were friendly and the site was flat. No RV or camper park river front. But it's only 100 yards to the river bank. Fishing was good. Again river was fast due to storms, but we had some catfish luck.. We will definitely be back.

It was my first float trip experience!!! I had a very good time here.

Tips to make your trip excellent:
+ Arrive early as the tubes get used up very fast and you do not want to wait in the very long lines.
+ You are allowed to bring your own connectors, just not ones with hooks. The ones they use at like backpack straps in a way. I highly recommend bringing your own straps if you have a large group because they will prioritize kids and families with the straps and they have a very small number!!
+ Bring coolers and food/drinks and get a cooler float. It will make your trip a lot more enjoyable

Went on the 1-hour tubing option. They give you a donut tube and you float down the river for approximately an hour. I'm not sure if I could have brought my own tube but that's really all you pay for (and the bus ride upstream).

Parking isn't bad as they have a grass lot next to the river. Wasn't crowded when I went and the folks working were nice. It's a bit of a drive but worth and nice relaxing day trip.

We experienced racist customer service from the camp staff.

The campsite was lovely and right on the water it had all of the amenities listed on the website. However the people next to us were playing loud music at 5:45 in the morning. After speaking with them several times without them turning down their music for more than a few minutes our group asked the camp staff to intervene. The staff did speak with the other campers but before hand made certain to apologize to us about " all the Mexicans".

We will not be returning.
