Past visits have been much more cordial. Usually the staff's attitude's of have been respectful and helpful. The last visit was a bit insulting and disappointing behavior and treatment by the staff.
I was there to return an item with the receipt in the bag from the store. I was told in a barely audible and dismissive tone, we require items to be held in the bag at your home for a period of two weeks before we take a return. Crazy, right?! Did they quarantine the item on the shelf before selling it to me and after who knows how many people handled it?? The explanation seemed to be nonsense

I’ve used this store for the last 6 years now, and they’ve always been very helpful. However, yesterday I went in to pick up a few things. I had just picked up my toddler from school, and he was with me. I was picking up some mounting hardware when my boy lets me know he needs to go potty. I ask if there’s a bathroom and I’m lied to no. So I hurry and get my articles and head to the register. I tell the registrar that my boy needs to use the restroom and she does try to help, but her superiors refuse, telling me to go to Subway. I am a frequent patron of this store. The customer service is always stellar and beyond compare. However, today, a customer service representative went above and beyond. Jermaine asked me if I would like assistance and everything went smoothly from that moment on. I did not have to think at all; Jermaine did it for me. He swiftly and efficiently found everything I needed and got me out of the store within 20 minutes. I always have a pleasant shopping experience when I go to Cape Ace but today was definitely exceptional.

Unfortunately, the staff must have been trained poorly in other situations: once they greet you, they follow you around. If they don't, you'll run into another employee who will. It's honestly a bit creepy.
It's not just an employee or two. It happens every visit without fail.
Let people shop. Be friendly, not smothering. If someone doesn't have questions, there's no need to hover them, stay beside them from one aisle to the next, or constantly

A clean well run establishment but as a regular customer who purchases 7-8 things a week some of their practices drive me nuts. I like t go to a store and purchase without being asked for my "Ace rewards ID", or if I'd like to round up my purchase to benefit a charity. I like to make my own charitable contributions to the charity of my own choice. The ACE rewards card is annoying I'd prefer them to lower their prices which are on the high end.

Bottom Line: A clean store and friendly staff so you want to spend your money here rather than at a big box store.
Although I think I can get to Home Depot as quickly as I can get to Ace, sometimes I just don't feel like dealing with US-50 or a large store. It is those times that I come to Ace. For being a local hardware store, their selection is larger than one may think. Additionally, they have a very helpful staff so if they do have it, you will be able to find it. Finally, I like some of the fun gifty items they have here like Caspari napkins and fun Maryland decor.

Whenever we have hardware needs we try to shop here to practice our belief in supporting local businesses. True Value provides consistent service and are always offering to assist you sometimes more often then you may like. (Sometimes I just like to roam around a store.) It is always easy to find someone to help you if you need it. Their selection is strong and most times they have what I need. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is because I haven't had an experience there just has blown me away. I imagine some day I may.
