Services
I am a holistic childbirth educator, birth ceremonialist and hypnotherapist. Besides teaching holistic childbirth preparation, newborn care, and breastfeeding classes, I also offer pregnant mothers' circles called "Waxing Moon Mamas" which are held in the way of traditional women's circles. I facilitate Birth Blessings & Baby Welcoming ceremonies, offer Private Birth Art sessions, one-on-one refresher classes and private consultations.
The Birth Journey - Holistic Childbirth Preparation class series is about knowing your choices, feeling confident in your knowledge, trusting your body, trusting the birth process and honoring your journey. This class is for home, birth center, and hospital birth couples who want to be conscious and fully involved, while honoring birth as a sacred rite of passage.
A one-time class where you learn about simple, healthy and green approaches for loving and caring for your baby(ies). We will cover bathing, diapers or not, dressing, swaddling or not, burping, attachment parenting, bonding, crying and soothing, baby wearing, co-sleeping, circumcision and immunizations.
Come share sacred space with other pregnant women as you journey towards motherhood. In this circle we honor the sacred vessel you are. We will explore and celebrate the act of creatively growing and courageously bringing life through your body. For six weeks your circle will share ritual, song, movement, crafts, the talking stick and visualization to work and play around pregnancy, birth and motherhood.
I am available for private consultations about any childbirth related needs. Some of my services include Birth Blessings, Baby Welcoming Ceremonies, Private childbirth classes, Refresher classes, Hypnotherapy, and Birth Process Art sessions. I facilitate Birth Blessing and Baby Welcoming ceremonies that celebrate, honor and support those about to give birth and for the "wee ones" who have just arrived here.

I absolutely loved my experience here. Melissa and Eliza are wonderful and they just feel like family. The atmosphere is very relaxed and home like and they are totally there to help you understand everything that’s happening/going to happen to your body and to the baby. You can have more or fewer appointments if you want and they are very flexible on tests and such. For instance, I didn’t want to do a glucose test but still thought it would be good to be tested in some way and was able to choose to carry around a glucometer for a little while to use to measure my blood levels.

For my husband and I’s first baby, we had decided to pursue a home birth. We stumbled upon birth journey through Google, and we’re so thankful we did. Melissa and both Hope & Ashleigh made us feel comfortable, safe, informed, and so much more throughout our time in their care. They really have gone above and beyond and have made our pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience better than we could’ve imagined. We are so grateful for these women beyond words!

Melissa was my midwife for the first part of my pregnancy (unfortunately I moved out of state before the birth itself). She’s so great. She really listened to my first birth experience and filled me with confidence in my ability and my body’s ability to have an out-of-hospital birth. I ended up having a wonderful home birth and she was a great part of my journey.

Love, love, love birth journey midwifery. I knew a hospital birth wasn't for me, and I'm so glad I found birth journey. My care through the whole pregnancy was so comfortable and catered around me, but also included my husband. I ended up 3 weeks overdue, and was in labor for 2 days, and Melissa and Connie were absolutely incredible. They did absolutely everything to help me through it, and I was able to succeed in birthing a 10 pound huge baby, no tearing, completely natural, and having a beautiful experience. I recommend them without a doubt.

I had such an amazing experience with Melissa that I would feel ungrateful if I didn’t share and post a review. I had a unique situation and switched my birth plan the week before I delivered and decided to deliver at home. Melissa was so accommodating and provided me with my dream delivery in my home for my second baby. My first was born in a hospital and I knew I wanted a different experience but was hesitant about delivering at home. Melissa made us feel safe and confident that we were in good hands. We chose to do a home birth for our second baby. It was the most wonderful experience and I'm so glad that we did it! Care with a Melissa as your midwife is very different than care at hospital. Even though the standard of care is similar (testing, labs, blood pressure, monitoring, ultrasounds etc) the heart of the care is different. Melissa gave me all the time I needed at appointments to address all of my questions. She took the time to get to know me and my family. A home birth probably isn't as most people imagine it. I was able to labor at home and have a peaceful (yet quick) birthing experience

Melissa and her team are simply amazing! They personalize your care according to your needs and level of comfort. They offer first class service that is very compassionate and professional. They took really good care of my sister when she had her babies at their birth center. The birth suite feels more like home/hotel with a jacuzzi tub for water births. One of my favorite things about this place is, they always have snacks just in case the mamas get hungry or the little ones that tag along with their parents. The staff is very friendly and they take care of their clients like family. I can't say

Seriously AMAZING midwives training with Melissa and Melissa is amazing too! So attentive and helpful throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum. I am SO grateful that I found Birth Journey. My husband and I both feel like its one of the best decisions we have ever made. We loved how calm and peaceful the appointments were and the birth suite itself.
