Cristy's Custom Sewing has been serving customers in Sarasota, Bradenton, Siesta Key, Longboat Key, Lakewood Ranch and Venice since 1996. Cristy Owen has over 20+ years of experience in alterations, custom designed dresses and custom clothing. Jerry "The Tailor" Fragomeni has been in the business for over 30 years.

I have used Cristy several times in the past to alter a prom dress, hem pants, and to repair a bag. I stopped in recently to seek advice about a parka that was almost completely finished, but for the sewing of trim down the front, which was pinned. I was met at the counter by her mom, with Cristy sitting at a desk nearby. I explained to her mom that my mom had just died a couple of weeks before and I had found this nearly completed parka project, pattern included. I showed the completed parka to her with simply the trim left to add, which had been pinned down the front. She said that they were

I can't buy clothes off the rack, ever. I'm 5'1" 115-119 lbs. Nothing fits me; small waist with a bigger butt/hips etc. I brought my jeans, shorts, dresses, rompers, everything to her. OMG! I'm like a teenager trying on my clothes. I'm so thrilled. BTW, this is my first review EVER

Three weeks before my weeding, which was scheduled for June 9, 2019, I went Cristy’s with many tasks: 1-Shortened my wedding dress, 2-Custom made a new slip for it, 3-Make the second dress smaller. 3- Make my 11 year old daughter’s dress smaller. 4- Honeymoon dress smaller as well.
She did a wonderful job with all of these request, when I put on the wedding dress she knew exactly what needed to be done. When I tried on the 2nd dress I did not have to say a word she just started putting pins in and that dress look even more beautiful after she was done! She has an eye for Haute Couture. And

Very very poor customer service, called to ask if you pay upon completion or as you drop the dresses off and the lady was super rude and hung up on me. I asked her because I want good quality and this place only has a 3 star rating so she replies well you're welcome to go somewhere else we wouldn't be in business for 20 yes if we weren't good.

Cristy is so so rude...stay as far away as you can from this establishment. My husband took in 2 pair of pants, one top of mine and a skirt that only needed to be fixed where stiching was coming apart. Not a huge project. We were told it would be ready in a week.Went back a week later still not finished. Told it would be ready that Friday which has now been l0days. Went in on Friday at around two to be told to come back at 5:00. Three trips for a small job. Lousy customer service. Had the nerve to tell us we were rude..some people!!! Stay away!!!

I took in a pair of tiered ruffle pants to be shortened. I asked that the seamstress remove extra fabric but not take it from the bottom because the pants would lose a ruffle. Instead I asked that he remove extra fabric from above the ruffles. He removed the extra fabric as I requested but then sewed an entirely new visible seam right through the middle of each pant leg! I don't know why he couldn't have sewn the ruffle panels and new seam as one to make it less noticeable.

Poor customers service & dress not done in time. Given a month to complete, a week before the event I still had not heard from her (after multiple texts), I ended up calling her myself for the final fitting appointment.They never called me when it was completed, and then got an attitude when I mentioned that to them. Two stars because she did, for the most part, get the design/pattern right.

I paid $25 to have a pair of jeans repaired and they were repaired and they were nicely done however one leg was too small I took them back and I was treated so disrespectfully by the older woman that works with Christy and Christy did not ever acknowledge the nastiness that was coming from the older woman's mouth in the Mist Of Me constantly trying to be calm and patient understanding polite complementing and it still did not do any good because Christy felt as if I was not being appropriate when I mention to the older woman that she was being mean and inappropriate and that I would like to just

Horrible experience. Very rude and extremely unprofessional to the point I was hung up on by Cristy. Brought in 2 bridesmaids dresses for my daughters. One dress needed a hem and the other needed more work. Never received a phone call to say if dresses were ready. Wedding is out of State and we told Cristy this at the first fitting. Had to call every week to see if they were done. Went for second fitting 2 weeks later after calling to see if we could come back in. We were told to come back in another week after that fitting and they would be done and we would receive a call. Again, never
