Custom Fireside opened for business in 1968. In fact, our main store, while now much larger, is still located at the original 5545 Auburn Blvd. We began business making new and replacement fireplace screens for the local community. We quickly grew into selling hearth accessories, gas logs, and glass fireplace doors.
As the alternative heating market grew, we began offering wood and gas stoves, inserts, and built-in fireplaces. Today, Custom Fireside is northern California's premier provider of fireplace and stove products and accessories. We have two showroom locations to service the greater Sacramento and Central Valley retail and contractor markets for remodels, inserts, and new home construction.

Services
The first step in diagnosing any service issue is to consult your installation/operations manual. If you cannot locate your manual and your product is current, you can download one from our site. Locate your product to view manuals and brochures. Custom Fireside has a service department with a service manager and three technicians.
A fireplace insert fits inside your existing fireplace. It is typically high efficiency and has flexible venting that runs up through your chimney. Your insert will be much more efficient than your existing fireplace and typically offers greater safety as the fire is more fully contained. Inserts typically come in two sizes.
A free-standing stove is a fully contained appliance. It sits inside your home on a finished floor or hearth and is designed to provide both heat and ambiance. Stoves must vent to outside the building envelope. Gas and pellet stoves can be vented both horizontally (with a vent cap visible on the side of the house) or vertically up through a roof.
Electric fireplaces are the fastest growing category in the fireplace market. They can be built-in, wall mounted, inserted into an existing fireplace, or added to any room when purchased with a mantel or as a free standing stove. Typically no clearances to combustibles required, allowing them to be installed in wood cabinets, on carpet, etc.
Chose new construction or "zero-clearance" fireplaces if you are building a new home or remodeling with a fireplace addition or replacement. New construction fireplaces are installed during open framing and require fireplace venting to outside the building structure. Chose a fireplace insert if adding a fireplace that fits inside your existing fireplace opening.

I called Custom Fireside to service my gas log set. Wasn't sure if it was the remote or something more serious. I wasn't able to get an appointment for a month...busy time of year. I scheduled anyway. On the day of my appointment, Awny, the service rep, called me to let me know he had cancellations and would be arriving earlier than the scheduled time. This service call was off to a good start! When he arrived, I explained the issue I was having and he set about troubleshooting the problem. He determined the module was faulty and replaced it. Cool! Awny is friendly, competent, and generally

I was wanting a fireplace insert in time for Christmas and Custom Fireside helped me pick quality unit that was in stock. I was able to pick it up the next day and was available for both questions and to help me recognize i didn't receive one of my boxes in the "kit" and without question had the missing component i needed same day. Their regular contractors were not available for 6-7 weeks so i went my own route (Hired Shah from Radiant Heating and Plumbing). Project started on Monday and I'm fully enjoying my amazing new fireplace on Saturday. Thanks Custom Fireside

Staff was knowledgeable and helpful. They have a wide selection of wood fireplaces, stoves and gas on display to help you figure out what you are looking for. They do not carry every brand so if you did research on a specific make and model, it is worth discussing with them as they would have a equal option to the pick from. They also can arrange installation which is an added bonus.

We hired this company to convert our wood burning fireplace to gas Six years ago. Back then they were a little difficult to get ahold of but they eventually showed up. Now they are impossible. We seem to lose our remote (the only way to turn the stove on) during the summer and this year is not an exception. We have called four times, left messages, no response. We're looking for a new dealer for sure.

We purchased a gas log set and fireplace doors from Custom Fireside in the midst of the pandemic. We wanted to minimize our interactions in retail establishments and thus did the whole transaction over the phone and computer. Mitch was exceptionally patient and answered all questions to our satisfaction, and the products were delivered and installed in a reasonable amount of time. We had some specific concerns about the doors and Custom Fireside/Mitch were quick to respond to these in a reasonable manner. If this is the high level of service that we get with a remote sale, I can only imagine how

The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because they had very little stock under $3K, or items for smaller spaces. I recognize that their stoves/fireplaces/inserts are high quality, but it would be nice to have a few more options!
Otherwise, most of the employees were quite knowledgeable and free with advise even if you don't purchase anything from them. We ended up purchasing a stove elsewhere, but I still wanted to write a review to compliment their friendly and accommodating staff!

Poor customer service! Evidently, based on my conversation with a Custom Fireside representative today , they are only interested in new installations not service after the install. I requested a service, which included a reinstall of my pellet stove (which I purchased from them) and was told they don’t provide the reinstall service. After questioning why and a lengthy hold on the phone, I was quoted a ridiculous estimate of over $550.00. Sounds like they really didn’t want to take care of my needs, since a annual tune up only costs $175.00. If I knew that was the level of customer service

Deleted my prior 1 star review and comments. Mitch, the owner contacted me and worked with me and his team directly to make sure I received great service going forward. They came through and my fireplace doors look great! I was also given a discount for the delay. All in all I am happy with the finished product.

We've wanted a gas fireplace insert for a long time. In fact, we had the gas line added four or five years ago and never made the step forward to get a gas insert. (It just seemed overly expensive and kind of confusing.) However, today was the day. I decided that we were going to finally move forward and honestly, I was going to shop local merchants and then probably buy an Amazon. (I know... I hate that too but sometimes the price difference so much you just can’t ignore it). However, not only did I get the right education but these guys actually beat the online pricing and we came home with
