As always, Billy is a consumate professional. The salon is spotless. Safety measures re: covid protocol are strictly practiced, from the moment you walk in the door and are offered hand sanitizer.
I have lived from Vegas to Alaska, from Seattle to Phoenix. As a professional musician, hair has always been an important piece of my identity. In my 30-year career, I could never count the number of hair salons I've visited, seeking to cut/color/process my hair. I can count, on one hand, the number of exceptional hairdressers I've remembered along the way. Billy falls in this category.

My haircut was given by Casey. She was extremely kind throughout the entire process and made me feel at home. The haircut was flawless, and she continuously checked to see if I liked it. Finally, whenever I wanted something to be done with my hair, she didn't hesitate to do anything I asked. I'll go here for now on.

If you have a complicated or difficult cut you want try to get billy hes always given me the best emo haircuts that other hairdressers couldnt do, always thinking out of the box and does extra reasearch before doing a complicated cut. Best hairdresser ive had been going to him for years. Highly reccomend.

Beautiful salon with talented stylists and wonderful people. The walls are filled with art and culture, and the atmosphere is genuine, fun, and welcoming. Jana did a great job with my long, thick, curly hair and knew exactly how to cut and handle my curls. I will definitely want her again the next time I come in! Billy is a sweetheart, a great conversationalist, and an inspiration. The Velvet Rope is brimming with pride and love and I'm very blessed to have stumbled upon this small gem right here in the heart of downtown Bellingham.

I went to see Alyssa and she did a great job! I'm definitely a happy customer after my first hair cut with Alyssa. Check her out if you're in need of a good cut and/or coloring. Also, the space itself is very nice with local art on the walls and the staff is keeping the space super safe during the pandemic. Give them a try! You won't be sorry. 👍💪

First time visiting this salon and I was very impressed! I brought my daughter in for her very first color appointment and Alyssa did an amazing job! (On the cut and color) She gave us exactly what we were looking for and was very pleasant to chat with. She made my daughter feel very comfortable during the whole process. I'm so happy we found Alyssa and The Velvet Rope! I cant wait to make an appointment for my hair, as well.
