My name is Derek Lipton MS, RD, CSSD, the owner and founder of FCSN. I grew up as a competitive athlete, playing soccer and baseball. Now as a Registered Dietitian, my goal is to help athletes learn how best to fuel themselves and thrive on and off the field. I was fascinated by how you could apply a complex science to various situations to see results.

I saw sports nutrition as a way to help athletes improve in ways they never could've imagined! I am a Registered Dietitian, Certified Personal Trainer, and Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics. I completed my Bachelors at the University of Maryland (Go Terps) and my Dietetic Internship at Virginia Tech.

I most recently worked as a Sports Dietitian at IMG Academy, University of Georgia, and Duke University, and use he unique skills I developed to help clients improve their health and athletic performance through nutrition counseling.

However, playing so many games in such a short period of time is unnatural & takes a toll on the body, causing sub-optimal performance on days 2 and 3. Derek knows how to take care of his clients. I train MMA and he has gotten me on weight every time to down to the pound with his elite nutrition programs that he individually customizes for me leading up to competitions. Not only has he played a major roll in my weight cuts but he is very knowledgeable, I learn a lot from my virtual sessions with him. Working with Derek has improved my performance a ton. He’s super knowledgeable, easy to communicate with, and always gives reasonable advice, taking all factors/goals into consideration. With his help, I’ve been able to properly prepare to be a D1 athlete and learned how to navigate dining halls, restaurants, etc. while still fueling for performance.

Derek is a really nice person and you can tell he wants to help his clients succeed. He is an extremely qualified nutritionist, and knows how to maximize your performance through the correct diet. Derek has been a huge help with my nutrition journey. He has helped me work through my disordered eating and push me to broaden what I am actually eating. It has been only a bit more than 1 month but I already see great results! First of all, following the nutrition plan helps a lot during my weightlifting trainings (higher energy level, increased strength). Additionally, meal prepping saves so much time as you always have meals ready throughout the week and do not need to be worried about it if you have a busy day. Finally, it is a great feeling to learn more and more about your body, how it reacts in different situations and also understand that it is all about balance and not about strict diets when you want to reach your best performance results

I started working with Derek at the beginning of this year because I was constantly feeling low energy and I realized that I had developed a very bad relationship with food. I highly recommend Derek and Full Circle Sports Nutrition. His nutrition advice was like magic for me. I am very thankful to have had him as part of my training team!
I have been working on losing my Covid Weight while competing in Jiu Jitsu competitions. Derek worked met with me via video chat once a month and set specific nutrition plans based on my age, weight, goals, schedule, and taste preferences. Throughout the month I was able to text him pictures of my food to check portions and balance, and I could also send questions when I had them. Each month we would make adjustments as necessary

Derek and his program were the best decision I could’ve made for not only my fitness and myself as an athlete but also for my health and my relationship with food.
