Have you ever wondered how The Wood became El Prez, San Diego's premiere fiesta spot to frequent along the boardwalk? No? Well, we're going to tell you anyway. If you have any interest in history, you already know that Abraham Lincoln was a very vocal opponent of the Mexican-American War. Mexico later honored Lincoln by creating a statue in his likeness.
As it turns out, we're also big fans of Abraham Lincoln!. And tequila. And tacos. And beer. And sunsets. Since we couldn't build a statue in honor of "Honest Abe", we were left with no choice but to open the best rooftop bar in Pacific Beach and combine all of our passions into one awesome location!

Services
Six crispy flour tortillas stuffed with chicken tinga, cotija cheese, red onions, and side of fire-roasted red salsa. Citrus-marinated cauliflower chunks tossed with cilantro, red onion, tomato, jalapeno, and avocado. Served with fresh, house-made tortilla chips. You're just going to have to trust us on this one!

I had the strangest experience of my life here, walked in around 6 pm, approached the bartenders who told us to seek a booth and servers would find us. We went to a booth, couldn’t find a clean one so we’re lingering near one that had dirty dishes on it and in the span of 15 minutes, 3 waiters walked by us with no greeting or acknowledgement of my friends and I. I’ve never felt more illtreated in my life and so disregarded by a group of people. Being nice matters and these folks left a large tip on the table. Do yourself a favor and never come to this place. Overrated for sure

We recently rented out El Prez' private speakeasy, Candy's Boom Boom Room for a company holiday party and had an incredible experience! Mercedes and the entire events staff were hands down the most accommodating and professional event coordinators I have ever used to plan a company event. Mercedes was communicative with me throughout the entire planning process, providing suggestions, and making accommodations for our needs every step of the way. Her calm and confident demeanor was a very stabilizing force during planning and set-up, which I usually find to be a very stressful time. Flamingo

When I went in I found a little table for my brother and I they seemed pretty busy. I found a girl who worked there and asked if there was a waitress or which section she was in she said she was running the whole thing. And we were like okay we understand but she was kind enough to get us our menu very fast and luckily we knew exactly what we wanted got my food fast with everybody there got my water and Megan was great. She was maintaining everything up there and everyone looked happy! My brother got a house margarita and I got chips and salsa and street tacos. Thank you Megan for taking care of

Sneaky extra charges. Be prepared to pay extra. There is a 4% "service charge" added to your bill. When asked about it they say it's on the menu. It's hidden at the bottom in tiny font. This is to "be able to compensate staff appropriately". So why can't they just adjust food and drink prices accordingly? Felt very sneaky and a way to pocket more money.
Also, I get that having automatic gratuity for large parties is a thing (don't agree but I digress), but the server told us it's 18%, when the bill came out to 20%. That was annoying. So expect to pay 24% more, if your party is larger than 6.

Most people come for the drinks, tacos, views and upbeat (often party) atmosphere. With the party reputation, quality can suffer but drinks and tacos were excellent! Drinks were not overly sweet or too alcohol forward - well balanced with good depth of flavor. Tacos had great spice profile and ceviche was fresh and tasty. Great views of the beach and Mission Blvd. Service was a little slow but friendly. Chips were stale and lacked flavor.

As much as I love el prez during night time or sundays do not come here during the day m-f. I came here around 4 pm just to get a drink or two but the whole time the waitress kept pressing appetizers even though I made it clear we are only here for drinks. We did order a couple shots and the cups were very dirty.... They had random black stuff floating in them... it was pretty nasty.. not sure how gross their food must be... I can not even imagine. only sticking here for sundays or night times from now on...

Horrible. The food here is not worth the price you pay. We paid $14.00 for some guacamole with pomegranate and a few slices of parmesan cheese. Ridiculous.
The tacos were of decent flavor and quality but go somewhere else to spend your money. There's too many good restaurants and bars out there.
Hire better chefs and cooks in the kitchen and pay your wait staff if you're going to charge those kinds of prices for crappy food.

Disappointed. I visited a couple years ago and loved the lobster tacos...I’ve been bragging about them to everyone, so when I was back in town my husband and I took his sister and it was a flop. Apparently they don’t have the lobster tacos anymore even though it’s still on the menu not crossed out-it was replaced with a shrimp taco. I went ahead and ordered a shrimp and filet taco same with my husband while my sister in law ordered 2 shrimp. The shrimp tacos all came out with different garnish on them and there was 3 teeny tiny shrimp. The filet taco cheese was burned and I mean burned it

The security/host is a hot mess. He yelled at us to move tables because a group of 10 had a reservation at the spot they sat us. Like no tact at all he literally yelled at us “you gotta move cuz this group got… a reservation”. We weren’t even done with our drinks but we rushed to get our check because we didn’t feel welcomed. That alone Totally ruined the lunch experience. Our server was great, food was good and drinks refreshing but the way that security/host treated us was unacceptable.

I really like this place but it has some major drawbacks - 1- the entrance is really hard to find and not well identified - it's upstairs without any signage directing you there. And then to get to the dance floor your have to go back downstairs once you're inside

Some of my favorite tacos in San Diego. And one of the few places that consistently has frozen cocktails. Yesterday I had a frose, and a frozen strawberry margarita. They have an extensive beer and cocktail (not frozen) menu as well. The rooftop is overlooking the ocean and beautiful on a sunny day. A lot of people come here for Sunday fun day/day drinking, but it's also a hidden gem for really good food at fair prices

I worked in the service industry for almost 10 years and would never consider writing a bad review unless there was wrong-doing on multiple levels. Sadly ethics and honesty is 1 star here.
Nicole was our server last night and I am highly disappointed in the service and ethics:
1) Took almost 40 minutes to get drinks repeatedly throughout the night.
2) Drinks would come out wrong... We orders 3 spicy regular margaritas and about 40 minutes later 1 spicy mango margarita came out:
-Nicole convinced my friend that she ordered it. So we took it and didn't drink it because it was too sweet
