We are incredibly blessed with a professional staff who have terrific clinical and interpersonal skills. As the practice celebrated it's 30th year in 2009, our staff had accumulated over 175 years of combined experience in our practice. We regard this as a huge benefit to our patients, providing a stable and consistent atmosphere for quality dental care.
Aphthous stomatitis (aphthous ulcers, canker sores) can be a recurring problem for many patients. They appear as small to medium ulcerated areas on the cheeks, tongue, lips or palate. They are usually painful and have been shown to be related to many factors. These include stress, diet and nutrition, oral health, and general medical condition.
Tooth decay is a bacterial infection of the hard tissue of the mouth. The types of bacteria that can grow on the tooth are very limited but hard to get rid of once established. The disease is communicable and can be passed by saliva on utensils, drinking glasses, etc.
In fact, children are born without the bacteria and are most often infected by their mothers testing or sharing food or by putting their fingers in the parent's mouth and then in their own.Careful handling can prevent this inoculation. The bacteria on the teeth use carbohydrate in the mouth, most commonly plain sugar but also other carbohydrates, to grow and reproduce.

The care of the area of the surgery is very critical for the first 2-3 days. The gum tissue that has been altered and moved is very delicate and any disturbance in this time may prevent the proper type of healing. The stitches under the dressing will be removed in 1 week. If they are near the edge of the dressing, or in the open area beyond, they may fall out on their own sooner, but they must remain in for at least 3 days.
