Anne Marie grew up in the butcher business. Her dad and grandfather each owned and operated their businesses in San Francisco. As a teenager, she learned her deli skills at her father's side. Fifty years later, that family business still thrives. We hope to continue that same type of family tradition here at Zia's.

Seriously the best sandwich in all of davis, probably all of california if i'm being honest. i go here every week and always get the exact same thing (half pastrami half prosciutto on a soft roll with roasted red peppers, pickled peppers, onions, provolone, mayo, and mustard). every time i leave davis i miss it 💔

Toscano specialty sandwich with salami, provolone, pepperocini, lettuce, tomato, onion on a soft roll was the best! They had Gelato flavors to choose fron; I picked the coffee and dark chocolate flavor. Good selection of Italian sparkling soda brands. More dessets to tempt one in their Cold Box. Seating outdoors, along the sidewalk.

We ordered two Viareggios with extra mayo via DoorDash. This has been our go-to order every time we get food from here since the beginning of the Covid pandemic. The sandwiches always taste good, but for some reason, this time they decided to put in an extra $0.54 charge for each sandwich.
I did not receive any notification from Zia's as to why there were extra charges after I had already paid on the app. In fact, I would not have known about the extra charges if it was not for the DoorDash email notification. The sandwiches were done the same way every time and they have always been $9

Short and simple: Great balance of ingredients, sandwich doesn't fall apart from being over stuffed, bread isn't soaked with sauce, good flavor, plus a drink and deviled egg for less than $12.
If you want a good Italian sub from a local deli in Davis then look no further. Make sure you come before or just after peak hours because there's gonna be a line, and with good reason.

We were looking for a lighter lunch and Zia's exactly fit our mood. Inside, it's sort of an Italian market, with a variety of sandwiches, cold dishes, drinks, desserts, etc.
We got two sandwiches and sat outside. The food was high quality and tasty. The only thing missing for me was some sort of spice. I should've asked if they could put hot peppers on my sandwich; I bet they would have. Next time...
Overall, Zia's is perfect for a light and tasty sandwich. Prices were very reasonable too!

Zia's has the freshest and most delicious sandwiches that you can find in Davis and the surrounding area. I love how thin they slice they deli meat before layering it on. The vegetables are so fresh and the cheese is amazing. Everything here is high quality and it is always consistent (I've been here countless times). I always get the Viareggio and it never disappoints. Skip the chains like Ike's and Panera and go straight here. You'll be so glad you did!

Talk about a hidden gem! I am almost embarrassed to say that I had never heard of Zia's before eating there for lunch yesterday. I wholeheartedly regret not going sooner.
I ordered their Viareggio Specialty Sandwich - a turkey, smoked mozzarella cheese, pesto-mayonnaise, lettuce, and tomato stuffed sandwich that absolutely hit the spot. the ingredients all tasted fresh and delicious but what really knocked it out of the park for me was the special "Zia's Pesto-Mayonnaise" that tied the whole thing together.
Not to mention their excellent service. The person who helped me

Zia's catered my graduation party 7 years ago and I've never had a bad experience since. I am in love with their Asiago pasta and the Luca is my go to sand which. I love going in and seeing how busy they are. They have good chip and drink selections as well. I have yet to try their desserts I think the fridge but one day I will.
I have to say these are stand up people. I use to work for a business that sold their sandwiches and the people who work with us getting our orders ready/delivered were just the kindest people. I hope Zia's is around for a really long time!

Best sandwich place in Davis. If you're looking for a deli that cuts your meat for your sandwich when you order it look no further. They have an amazing set menu but also if you want to build your own sandwich you can do that too. Pictured here is a roast beef with preccuitto on a soft roll with smoked mozzarella. There's a reason this place keeps winning best sandwich in Yolo County every year.

I was delighted to find an authentic Italian style deli that allowed me to get a high quality, hand made sandwich for $8! That's almost unheard of these days.
The younger man that made the sandwiches put so much care and effort into them, they were perfect. Portions were nice and toppings were spread out evenly (I care about that obvi).
They have cute outdoor seating and a few spots indoors too. It seemed like a very friendly place where they probably have some regulars. Since it was our first time we aren't the regulars (yet)!
Nice gelato/dessert options including just a quick truffle

I've been to Zia's a few times and their sandwiches are consistently good. It gets very busy here on weekends around noon, so likely best to avoid the lunchtime rush.
I ordered the Roma which is turkey with artichokes. I requested lettuce, tomato, pickles and mustard as additional condiments but they forgot the mustard. Fortunately, the sandwich still tasted good without it. The bread is very soft and light, making bites very easy. The turkey was pretty good, much better than your packaged deli turkey meat. They didn't give very much artichoke which was disappointing.

Zia's is an adorable traditional deli competing furiously with its larger, commercialized counterpart, Panera. Though you might be tempted to stick to the safety of an established brand, a few extra bucks and a walk across the street is all you need for an upgrade to classic Italian flavors~
