Marty's Cafe
Founded in 2006, Marty's is a neighborhood cafe and meeting place offering breakfast, lunch, bakery, and small plates - along with a full service barista, a carryout menu and a seasonal ice cream bar. Its made-to-order menu features sandwiches, panini, burgers, salads, soups, tapas and special seasonal offerings - prepared with fresh local ingredients seven days a week.

Marty's Cafe was brought to life as a tribute to local resident Martin O'Brien who lost his battle with cancer in 2005 at the young age of 47.

I am a regular customer. Sometimes up to three times a week. I love Marty’s and I would love to give a five star rating but I’d like to see this fixed first. Every so often I will get a salad that looks like this. Already tossed with dressing. By the time I get home to eat the croutons are soft and the lettuce wilted. What is this slop? It makes me think that that regular chef is on vacation or something. Usually the salad is beautiful with all the toppings organized and dressing in a little container. I’ve gotten two salads that look like this, this week. It’s disappointing…

A charming little cafe in a great area of Washington Depot. My husband and I stopped in on a Sunday morning for a light breakfast and coffee. Inside, Marty's is modern, updated, and so cute! They had display cases with their delicious muffins, croissants, and baked treats all beautifully set up in glass jars. Their menu had perfect dishes for everyone's palette- omelette, avocado toast, breakfast wrap, oatmeal, and even a light breakfast of boiled eggs with healthy sides. We ordered a breakfast wrap, avocado toast, a latte, and a coffee. My latte was good! Warm, had just the right amount

Honestly the worst coffee I've ever had in my life. 3 of us had coffees, 2 almond milk lattes, and one regular cappuccino and non of us could drink it. We were forcing past one sip. It tasted like they bought one coffee from dunkin doughnuts and then watered it down for their customers for the rest of the day, or maybe they use used keurig pods? Should just buy a Nespresso machine at that point.
Also, this should be a general life rule: never heat up salad greens or lettuce in a sandwich.

This place was pretty great, very friendly staff, clean, and attentive. It was pretty busy when we first arrived, but cleared out rather quickly. When there was a line, someone walked out to "go to Dunkin instead" but that's fine. This is a quick service place, not really fast food. The baked goods were fabulous and we had nachos, which were not pretentious, exactly the right size for a light snack with my husband, and they make pretty farm good coffee. We then popped around to the book shop & dog depot stores nearby, which was a great way to burn a couple hours between the museum & dinner, and

They make an excellent cappuccino and the muffin I had was soft and rich with blueberry flavor. The interior is warm and inviting.

Lovely place, Gilmore girl fans must visit. It was a very pleasant experience. Had coffee and Rory's favorite French toast. I personally flew from Allentown Pa to eat here. I was not disappointed.

I like to stop by at Marty's while running errands in Washington. There are seating areas inside as well as outside the cafe. I often enjoy the meatloaf grilled cheese panini. (The focaccia bread pairs well with lemon Pellegrino.)

One issue with a small cafe such as this is it seems the proportion of contents seem to depend on who is cooking at the moment, however it's always tasty.

I am sorry to have to write this, but a honest and forthright assessment has to be put up for this place. I ordered the fried green tomatoes breakfast sandwich; they were out of tomatoes so she asked if avocado was ok I said yes. I also got it on the cheese croissant . It was a stone cold croissant !avocado was frozen and there was nothing else on the sandwich. It tasted like something a raccoon carried in. My daughter ordered the oatmeal and I do not know how they managed to make oatmeal inedible but they mastered that!!
It was the absolute worst food we have ever been served at a restaurant

Absolutely charming café, bustling with customers. Service was quick and friendly. A thoughtful menu, as well as lots of tempting grab-n-go options (like croissants, pastries and salads). Just looking at the menu, you can tell this business is intentional with what they serve. We had a Curried Chicken Salad wrap, that was loaded with every tasty lil nut-veggie-crunchy thing you could imagine. The Italian Tuna Salad Plate was delicate made with fresh light ingredients. The Peach Smoothie was refreshing and addictive. The Cappuccino was a solid good one. Everything tasted great - incredibly fresh

Reminiscent of Westons... sans the pie... but a small town feel! There's a amazing array of bakery goods... the scones, the muffins, the croissants, the cookies, and the winner is the mini banana loaf! Incredibly edibles!! We went in for brunch, the avocado toast was perfect, the tomato basil quiche was good - but a bit over cooked, the green tomato breakfast hit the spot, the French toast platter consisted of those frozen strips I used to serve my kids - I'd either make fresh French toast or Deere this from the menu.

They also serve salads, paninis, wraps, sandwiches, burgers, and

Was recommended this place by multiple people and came all the way from NJ. Everything was fine until we got the check. Was charged extra. I only ordered two grilled cheese, 1 chicken tenders, 2 ice teas and one small coffee. Otherwise place was beautiful and calm.

Super cute spot! The food was good, but nothing spectacular. Employees were very friendly! I liked the modern decor inside and the variety of seating options (I sat on a couch while others in my party were in chairs at the same table). The pastries looked really yummy, but we didn't try any. Prices very reasonable!

Marty's Cafe is located in the center of Washington Depot, which is one of my favorite towns in Connecticut.
I stopped there for lunch a few days ago and ordered a curry chicken salad wrap, which came accompanied by a side of potato chips.
A server brought the meal to my table (I had previously ordered it and paid for it at the counter). I was also given napkins and utensils. The server and the person who took my order were very courteous.
This is a very casual place with a relaxed atmosphere. It's clean and comfortable. I found the food and the coffee to be very satisfying.

Thank you Marty's. For always being Marty's. Not wavering or changing on me. I'm playing a Billy Joel song in the background but I digress. I can always count on you to make my latte creamy and delicious with thee best coffee. I hope you remain at the depot another 100 years!

Marty’s is a wonderful place to stop by with its cozy atmosphere and friendly employees. I got a cappuccino and two of the best chocolate chip cookies I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to come back next time I’m in the area.

We went to Washington because we heard it was an inspiration to Gilmore Girls, a show we enjoy. It is a small and quaint town. We didn't realize that many businesses there would be closed on Sunday, but thankfully Marty's and the neighboring independent book store were open.

There was a decent wait to get in for lunch, but thats to be expected. Most of the staff was very friendly and they were all well-versed on COVID policies, and procedures, and everyone was wearing masks. The food was good and the portions were decent, but a little pricey. This is supposed to be similar to Luke

We stopped by for a late lunch this afternoon. There was lots of pleasant seating outside and we took one of the picnic tables.
My husband had a chicken and feta cheese panini and I had a chicken and avocado wrap. Both of us took the house chips.
We ordered inside and took a number out to our table and they served us.
We both loved our sandwiches. Not only great food but it pleasant environment.
This is definitely a repeat experience. Next time we'll get some of the beautiful desserts or ice cream. Hard to resist today.

The staff were lifeless and very slow, the chocolate chip cookie was great but, the coffee is HORRIBLE! I got 3 shots of espresso over ice and I felt like I was drinking coffee flavored water. They're were people going in WITHOUT masks and it made me feel uncomfortable especially cause I have a baby with me who I never brought in. The best part is the outside seating. Very chill and relaxing.

The only reason I ended up in this town was because of the show Gilmore Girls lol which I didn't really see it but it was a cute town! Very cute town!

Should have know the staff was unfriendly the second i called to place an order, the man on the phone was nothing but rude (pretty much screaming thru the phone.) Then when it was time to pick up my food the women at the cashier was not welcoming at all. She took my card and asked if i wanted to tip, but i was only doing takeout so i didn't feel a tip was necessary after paying $40 for 2 sandwiches and 2 coffees.... Was never given a receipt to see how much everything added up. The food wasn't great, one slice of turkey and no mayo on the sandwiches. Really disappointing. Won't be

Adorable cafe located in the center of Washington Depot Connecticut.
Tastefully decorated inside with an abundance of seating, along with some tables outside for those of you with your furry friends.

My husband and I stopped here with our small pup after hiking up the waterfall at Kent Falls State Park (highly recommend!)

You order at the counter, and they bring your food to you.
I ordered the turkey club with a side of chips.
The turkey club was delicious, and it was served on some sort of wheat bread with seeds in it.
I should have asked for white bread since I shouldn't really eat

Clearly the locals love this place as there were tons of people in and out while we were there. The coffee was outstanding and the service was fantastic! The cafe was hustly and bustly. I just loved it! We'd definitely come back.

Semi awkward. The set up is not welcoming. It's hard to see the baked goods, which don't look delectable and mouth watering anyway - more like out of some grocery store box. Heck, they should stock Sodelicious bakery items from Kent. Anyway, I stop on random occasions and they never have any interesting good items to make me want to grab anything more than coffee. The day I had red wine it was a disappointment. Some crappy little bottle. It could really be a lovely afternoon place with nice wine and cheese as the seating is lovely both indoors and out. The ice cream in the back

I had been by here a billion times...and had never tried this place.

BF likes the Gilmore Girls so in the process of going on the "where I grew up" tour through the area, I took him here since allegedly Luke's Diner is modeled after Marty's, though I don't agree with that at all. (The Depot being the basis for Stars Hollow however, I do agree with) Luke would never have wifi or such foo foo things as paninis. ;)

That said, I very much enjoyed my chicken and goat cheese panini. The shop was very cute & comfortable so we hung out for a while and just enjoyed our lunch
