Chesapeake Bay Psychological Services, established in 2006 by Dr. Catherine Smithmyer on Maryland's Kent Island, is a multidisciplinary outpatient mental health practice currently composed of psychologists, licensed professional counselors, and licensed clinical social workers. Most of our services are currently provided by telehealth.

Teletherapy with us is safe, private, and convenient, and costs no more than in-person therapy. When schools are open, we offer therapy services to students at several local schools: Bayside Elementary, Kent Island Elementary, and Stevensville Middle Schools.
Services
Established in 2006 by Dr. Catherine Smithmyer on Maryland's Kent Island, CBPS is a multidisciplinary outpatient mental health practice currently composed of psychologists, licensed professional counselors, and licensed clinical social workers. Our mission is to provide excellent mental healthcare services to our community, while aiming to make those services affordable by accepting Medicare, Medicaid, and most insurance.
At CBPS, we know that finding the right therapist can make all the difference. Our highly skilled clinicians specialize in a variety of areas - but all of them were selected for their genuine commitment to provide excellent services and to treat every client with respect and care. Choose your therapist below, or call the office to discuss which of our clinicians is right for you.
New Client Paperwork-The CBPS New Client Packet is required for all new clients. It provides information regarding our services and rates, as well as directions to the office. After completing and signing, e-mail the form to admin@chesapeakebaypsychological.com, fax it to 877-643-0126, or bring it to your first appointment.
We are always interested in diversifying our clinical team. Interested therapists are encouraged to contact our Director to discuss the possibilities. At Chesapeake Bay Psychological Services, the service we provide to our community is possible only because of our outstanding therapists. Their clinical skills, personal integrity, and genuine dedication to caring respectfully for diverse clientele makes CBPS who we are.
Have a question? We're here to help, so feel free to call or email. Our multi-tasking office manager, Vicky, handles most emails and calls, so if you reach her voicemail, don't despair. Leave a message! She will get back to you as soon as she can. You'll likely hear back from her within 24 business hours, but if you don't, feel free to reach out again.

My 9yr old daughter went here for a couple months to work through the loss of her mother. It was hard for her to trust a stranger with her feelings. As I struggled running a business and a single father to 2 we ended up missing our 3rd appointment. I was notified by letter and my daughter received nothing no good bye no good luck nothing. I understand there policy but sometimes the human should be more important than the buck! Even if it is just a goodbye to a hurting child. I recommend finding someone else that may actually care.
