It's a great privilege to introduce myself as the Headteacher at Southend High School for Girls, and on behalf of our students and staff, I'm pleased to welcome you to our website. The school has over a hundred years of history, tradition and success - educating the brightest young minds. As Headteacher, I'm passionate about the learning and development of our students and am delighted that you've shown an interest in our wonderful school.
As a school we have a strong tradition of maintaining links with our former students and we want this to continue. We have an alumni network through which we would like to keep you up to date with the school's progress, development and achievements. We are keen to find out where our alumni are now - which career paths you have followed, universities you have attended, subjects you have studied and where in the world you are based now.

SHSG is an outstanding school driven to develop all students to excel and achieve their potential, both academically and personally. The school has a long tradition of academic excellence and is amongst the top 5% of schools in the country for both GCSE and A Level results and in the top 10 in the East of England.
As a former lead school for the Southend SCITT we have the necessary experience and suitably qualified staff to support trainee teachers through their training year with us. We work specifically in partnership with Essex and Thames SCITT and also Essex Teacher Training through the Eastwood Academy and offer a range of non-salaried training opportunities and at times salaried training opportunities through these providers.
