Anthony Van Vreede, MD is a board certified dermatologist specializing in the treatment of a wide range of dermatological diseases. Dr. Van Vreede grew up in Traverse City and is excited to return to his hometown. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and medical school at Wayne State University in Detroit.
Although all surgical procedures done at the Skin Cancer and Dermatology Center are outpatient procedures, they still require you to take certain precautions and steps to prepare to insure the best outcome. Below you will find some tips to help you prepare for surgery. Smoking interferes with wound healing, so we ask smokers to refrain at least two weeks before surgery and two weeks after.
It is normal to have post-operative swelling and bruising. Do not put ice directly on the surgical site), Compression (if applicable to the location), Elevation. Swelling and bruising can slowly resolve over a course of a few days or weeks depending on the individual. Some patients may experience pain following surgery.
