Dr. McCarroll is from Canton, a suburb of Boston, Massachusetts. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English/Pre-Medicine from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA. She went on to receive her 4-year Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (D.P.M.) degree from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine.

When I entered Dr. McCarroll's office, I was warmly greeted by her receptionist and given a form to fill out. The office was decorated with Vionic shoes and other foot care products. After I handed in the form, I was escorted to an exam room, and the medical assistant helped me to the reclining chair and removed my socks. Dr. McCarroll came in shortly thereafter and introduced herself. She was gracious and efficient. She answered all my questions professionally and put me at ease. She examined my feet and made a diagnosis on my " itchy" foot condition and toe fungus. She prescribed the ointments
