Island Volunteer Caregivers works within the community to support life-enriching connections between caring people, seniors, and people with long-term or temporary special needs. We work to enable independency, dignity, health, and well-being. We are committed to a world of compassionate communities where people of all ages value and care for seniors and those with special needs.
Services
Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers of Bainbridge Island (IVC) was originally founded and organized in 1996 by members of several Island religious congregations. They recognized that in our community there was a real and growing need for a program that would enable caring people to reach out to help vulnerable neighbors who had important unmet needs.
IVC Bainbridge provides a variety of programs that enrich the lives of our community members. From direct outreach to engaging social activities and support groups, IVC provides critical services that bind the community together. The Community Resource Navigator program is a partnership program between Island Volunteer Caregivers and the Bainbridge Island Senior Community Center.
After you complete your application, we ask that you participate in our new Online Volunteer Training. Upon completion of the Training, we will have you come in for an in-person Volunteer Orientation so we can get to know you, and you can hear about volunteer opportunities available at IVC. At this point we will also make copies of your Driver's License, Car Insurance and do a visual inspection of your car.
IVC has developed a Volunteer Online Training program that we ask all potential volunteers to participate in. There are three sections outlined below (Essentials, Transportation and Home Companionship). Please set aside 20 minutes to take the training. It will give you a good idea of the work that IVC volunteers are doing in the community.
As IVC continues to grow, we rely more and more on the generosity of individuals and the community as a whole for support. The hours of direct service to our care receivers continue to increase steadily year after year. As we reach out to more and more of our elderly and temporarily disabled neighbors in the community we will require more and more funds to continue the kind of consistency and quality of service the community has come to expect.
