Dr. Schott and Dr. Giedd are trained licensed optometrists, able to evaluate, treat, and monitor many of the above conditions. They work closely with many of the local tertiary ophthalmology sub-specialties, such as Cornea, Glaucoma, Cataract/Refractive, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Pediatric, and Retina. If you need to see one of these sub-specialists, Dr. Schott and Dr. Giedd will happily refer to an ophthalmologist best suited for your eyes.
Blepharitis is an inflammation of the eyelid that is often associated with an infection. Dry eye is one of the most common symptoms of blepharitis. However, other symptoms may include red or swollen eyelids, sensitivity to light, blurry vision and crusting of the eyelashes. Anterior blepharitis. The two most common causes of anterior blepharitis are bacteria and a skin disorder that causes itchy, flaky skin called seborrheic dermatitis.
What is glaucoma? Glaucoma is a serious eye disease. It occurs when the pressure inside the eye builds up and damages the optic nerve. The disease tends to affect peripheral vision first, which makes it very hard to detect via symptoms alone. Most people do not notice a change in their vision until they have lost as much as 40 percent of their sight.
Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of vision loss in the United States, and in its infancy may not have many symptoms. AMD can be very gradual making early detection difficult but extremely important. It can be detected with a dilated eye exam as well as the use of ancillary technology such as the OCT.
Dry eye is one of the most commonly diagnosed eye diseases that affects nearly half of the population. Due to hormonal changes and deterioration of eye structures, Dry Eye is more prevalent in women and the elderly. Other factors such as exposure to smoke, climate, impaired eyelid functioning that interferes with blinking, use of contact lenses, refractive eye surgeries and more.

Went in today to get an eye exam and everyone was awesome. Front desk was great, Ed helped me pick out my glasses, he really knows what he is doing!!! And lastly my doctor was Brad. He was very nice and took his time making sure that my vision was good. Overall a great experience, I would recommend!
