Dr. James A. Gainer, D.D.S. is a general dentist with years of training and experience in a vast array of dental procedures. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland Dental School, one of the best schools in the country. Since graduating with his D.D.S. degree in 1984, he has performed general dentistry while continuing his education with several post-graduate courses in different fields of dentistry.
Teresa's dental career began in 1981 after earning a degree in Dental Assisting at UNC School of Dentistry. After 13 years as a dental assistant, she was promoted to Dental Office Manager. Her passion is to help patients save their teeth and to achieve beautiful smiles. Her expertise is working with Insurance and financing to help make dentistry affordable for patients.
We take pride in serving patients with a customized and personalized approach. We believe in educating our patients in the hopes of inspiring them to take care of their smiles between visits. When you come to our dental practice, you'll be treated to a comfortable and caring atmosphere, friendly and experienced staff members, and state-of-the-art technologies.
We encourage all patients so schedule a visit with our dentist in Wilmington, NC, at least once every six months and more frequently for cleanings and checkups if they have gum disease. Dr. James Gainer can put together a tentative schedule of treatments and visits during your visit. The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends brushing twice a day and cleaning between the teeth by flossing or using an interdental cleaner at least once a day.

I am very pleased with my experiences at Wrightsville Dental! Both Dr. Gainer, my dentist, and Anne, my hygienist, are highly skilled, very professional, kind, and caring. Had my third cleaning today with Anne. She’s consistently thorough and takes time to explain any problems and levels of care. I trust her expertise. Dr. Gainer completed great work on a crown during a previous visit. He is also very knowledgeable in new and improved dental techniques. The office staff are always very warm and welcoming as well! I highly recommend this staff for your dental needs.

Best dental experience ever! Dental hygienist Karen was knowledgeable , clinically proficient and gentle. I’ve just completed extensive dental work (extraction, bone graft, four crowns, bridge) and I’m not done yet. A result of neglecting my teeth for far too long. I have had the best experience with the entire staff of this office. Their technology is better than any dental office I’ve ever used. My options and treatment plan were explained to my satisfaction. I have dental anxiety but because of their expertise and attention to the patient, I knew after the first appointment I was in good hands. Highly recommend this office!
