Heel pain can occur on the back and/or bottom of your heel. Pain on the bottom of your heel is often known as plantar fasciitis or heel spur syndrome. Pain on the back of your heel can be caused by inflammation of your achilles tendon, or a bony condition known as a Haglund bump, or pump bump. The most likely cause of pain on the bottom of your heel is something called plantar fasciitis or heel spur syndrome.
Arthritis is inflammation and degeneration of the cartilage and lining of the joints, generally accompanied by an increase in the fluid inside joints. It can cause pain anywhere there is a joint. Commonly, arthritis is felt most in the feet, hands, knees, hip and back. Arthritic feet can result in loss of mobility and independence, but early diagnosis and proper medical care can help significantly.
Ingrown toenails are nails whose corners or sides dig into the surrounding skin. This leads to pain, redness, swelling and frequent infection. The big toe is the most common location for this condition, however it can occur on any toe. If area is painful and does not appear infected, you can try to soak your foot in warm water with epsom salt.
Sports Injuries of the foot and ankle can occur vary upon the activity and movement being performed. While ankle sprains are prevalent in basketball and tennis, turf toe injuries may be found in athletes such as football and soccer players as well as ballet dancers. Fifth metatarsal fractures are also prevalent in dancers and other high impact athletes.
A bunion is a bump on the outside of the big toe joint. Contrary to popular belief, most of the time a bunion is much more than just extra bone that needs to be shaved; it is usually an angular deformity of the first metatarsal bone which often requires surgical correction if it is sympotmatic. When a bunion forms, the big toe will often angle towards the second toe, and will occasionally overlap the toe.
