Hunting for some Lumberjacks today to fill summer staff positions! I'm in the Steen Library, so send people my way! Camp changes lives and we need staff in order to make a difference in the lives of kids who have been abused. God has blessed this camp to be a place of shelter to many who have not experienced it in their daily lives. Camp Akiva will be a safe and fun place where every person leaves revived, refreshed and reminded of God's greater love that offers hope to everyone.
Services
To offer every child in Texas, who has endured abuse and neglect, the HOPE of Jesus Christ in a safe and loving environment. The property was originally purchased in the Spring of 1973 by a group of churches who named the camp: Christian Camp of the Living Word (CCLW).
Executive Director of Our Father's Children (OFC), Darren Edwards, dreamed about having a dedicated camp to further OFC's ministry and see even more children who had a history of abuse and neglect come to know and love Jesus. There were some possible sites but various obstacles arose and Darren began to feel that this was a dream that would not come true.

We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are inspired of God. The Scriptures are the infallible Work of God, His revelation of Himself to all of creation, and the authoritative rule of faith and conduct for mankind.
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His victorious and atoning death through His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return to power and glory. We believe in baptism by immersion as taught in the New Testament.

The facilities and staff were awesome. One of the best locations I have been to and the staff were incredibly accommodating and on top of everything. Both Lodge 1 & Lodge 2 were newly remodeled in the Spring of 2014. Each lodge sleeps 24 in a single sleeping area and has adjacent bathrooms and a vanity area.
