Cass Street Bar & Grill
Let the good times roll at Cass Street Bar and Grill. We believe great memories are made around cold beer, flavorful food, and casual conversation. Stop by the PB local's favorite neighborhood bar today! Consuming raw or undercooked meat, poultry, seafood or eggs may increase your risk of food-borne illnesses, especially if you have certain medical problems.

Be advised that our food may contain the following ingredients: milk, eggs, soy, wheat, peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish and possibly other ingredients that may cause adverse reactions. Our bar and grill is more than a restaurant - it is a place where locals hang out. When we were founded in 1984, we quickly drew attention from the local community.

I have always loved Cass street but today I was visiting while in town and the owner John and bartender Mandy went above and beyond! Unfortunately their printer wasn't working and I had ordered a few sandwiches to go (because honestly who can resist their steak sandwich yummmm) and the kitchen never knew. The sandwiches ended up taking quite a bit longer than expected and instead of just an apology they quickly gave me a beer while I waited and even some swag. Honestly it made my night! I have been coming to Cass street for well over a decade and was reminded why I loved them -beyond just

The beer selection is phenomenal and the bartenders are very friendly. Just avoid staying after last call or things may get weird and, fast forward a few months later, you are regretting you life choices. Great for kids.

Well it's a vegan sushi restaurant.........I'm not a vegan so disappointment for me because I did not realize until we were eating. I was pleasantly suprised the flavor was good and the service was great.

Chinese chicken salad...if you're from PB you already know the legendary salad dressing. People say it used to be better, it's pretty good now

Fish tacos are bland. Veggie taco is bland. Their carne asada is good, but only on the fries...kind of. In the taco it's mixed with too much stuff.
The sauce is good.

We stopped in to watch the game last week. Hadn't been there for awhile & the menu has changed. Nikki the bartender was upbeat and gave us some food recommendations to go along with our beers.
Hope to see you again Sunday!

Cool bar with unique decor. Reminds me of the movie Tron. Harry’s taco club is attached so food is great. Had the California burrito, highly recommend and their tacos are good too. Very dog friendly! Heads up they serve rice alcohol instead of the real stuff if that matters to you.

This was wild. We went to this bar, assuming it was a regular bar. Turns out, no liquor license. Which is no big deal except that there was no indication. They sold us 3 vodka sodas, 1 tequila soda, and 5 Lemon drop shots. They never mentioned they had no liquor license. We were sold 9 drinks with no liquor in them (Saki instead) and when I asked about it they said I should have already known.... how was I supposed to know? There was no sign. No one told us. . I wouldn't have cared that there was no liquor license but there was no honesty here. I feel like I was swindled. I am a San Diego

Stop watering down the tequila :(

i got:
tequila shots (2/5): very watered down and only filled up halfway
price per drink: too expensive

atmosphere: sweaty and dark

volume level: i guarantee you cannot hear a single one of your friends talk in
this bar

music: fun selection of modern rap + 2007s mix

bathroom: only one

fun extras: pool table! :)

6/2021 UPDATE: I received a very nice response from Harry to make things right after he read my following review. I respect any business that goes over and above to make things right so I have changed my opinion of Case Street. I look forward to returning to Cass with a new attitude and open mind
Thank you Harry!
ORIGINAL POST (3 stars): Used to be my 'go to' whenever I was in PB. There were times I would crave their oriental salad with grilled chicken & cheesy potatoes. NOT ANYMORE! The portions have shrunk and the salad dressing has changed; watered down, more vinegar, nothing

Well, I drove from Los Angeles to San Diego, mainly to get my favorite sandwich, the teriyaki steak sandwich. The chef forgot the teriyaki mayo :(
Very sad, ugh. I'm sure it's still as good as I remember with the mayo, but without it wasn't.

I'll update my review after I try again this weekend

We received $20 vouchers from friends to Cass St. so we decided to stop by for some takeout. Not much going on in the dive bar at 1 in the afternoon on a Saturday but a few people day drinking. The COVID19 protocol there isn't the best given the nature of a bar, so be warned. They have a popcorn machine where any bar patrons can serve themselves; It is a nice gesture, but ultimately a bit sus. The menu is pretty limited due to COVID, nothing fancy, just standard dive bar staples. We got the shrimp ceviche ($13) and the cheeseburger ($11)- IMO a bit overpriced, though the ceviche was pretty

LOOOVE Cass Street, I refer to it as the hidden gem of PB. Very low key, which I love about it. Pool tables and the chill "dive bar" type vibes. The location is great in my opinion because it is off the beaten path a bit. Love that Harrys Taco Shop opened next door, they are delicious. BUT, the steak baguette at Cass Street is unmatched. I would go there just for that. Need to still try the chicken baguette, stay tuned.

I also LOVE the bartenders, Mandie, Mo, and Cole. They always keep it real, are super fun, and on top of it. I recently went after the restrictions were lifted and it

It's ok. Not what it used to be. 10 years ago the food was a 10. Now around a 7. Decent, if I'm around, but not worth driving through PB traffic hell to get there like it used to be. Really, the food was the place's big draw. Now nothing sets it apart from any PB Beach bar. Beer selection pretty standard. Prices reasonable and the staff is awesome. Parking is a nightmare.

Update: the owner reached out to me on Yelp after seeing my review and hearing about the issue for the first time. He apologized immediately and provided more insight and wanted to make it right. He went out of his way to provide a refund and also offered more than what I asked. I definitely want to give this spot another try when I'm in town.

So unfortunately we couldn't get the full Cass Street experience because they're closed for indoor and outdoor dining. You can still order take-out but you have to order it through the Harry's Taco Club window. We had only planned for take-out anyway (being Covid responsible, we haven't had dine-in since February) but the customer service experience may have been different at Cass'.

Decided to place a phone order so we could just pick up and go. Unfortunately I had a bit of difficulty placing my order. I was ordering a couple of cheeseburgers and asked what our cheese

This is a awesome little bar. Yeah the stools ain't the greatest and stuff is a bit outdated, but it has history behind it. The food and service is why it's 5 stars. Everything I see leaving the window looks amazing. My salad was so good! The dressing on the Asian salad was dank! Tara took great care of us and was very knowledgeable about the menu, and delivered great service. This place has pool tables too!
