Services
Dating back to the mid-'90s and early 2000s, there were four competing orthopedic groups in our area. Seeing the trends in healthcare we realized we would be much better together and formed Willamette Orthopedic Group. This collaboration allowed us to provide highly specialized care to the community and amplify our commitment to exceptional patient care.
The board-certified orthopedic surgeons at Hope Orthopedics provide sports medicine and general orthopedic care, with years of education, training, and hands-on experience in their specialty areas. Our experienced specialists provide expertise in diagnosing and treating a wide range of conditions. Once we determine the cause of your pain, we can develop a customized and comprehensive treatment plan for you.
Hope Orthopedics of Oregon offers a complete spectrum of outpatient orthopedic care for Salem-Keizer and the surrounding areas. Our services range from in office diagnosis and conservative care to inpatient and outpatient orthopedic surgical procedures. Our focus is to provide our patients with a personalized care plan to improve their quality of life.
Call or come in any time during office hours. No appointment is necessary, and wait times are usually less than 15 minutes. Please note that a prescription from a Hope Orthopedics of Oregon provider is required to use our department. The Cast and Brace Department also sells crutches and other items that may not be covered by insurance.
From carpal tunnel syndrome to arthritis, there are many conditions that affect the health of our hands, wrists, and elbows and impact day-to-day activities. Our experienced and specially trained hand specialists provide expertise in diagnosing and treating a wide range of hand and wrist conditions.

Outstanding care and compassion at every level. Expertise and knowledge of orthopedics is above and beyond. I’ve had four joint replacements performed by Dr. Sewell and have referred family members to him as well. Currently see Dr. Fan and Tommy for continued care. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Hope has always seen very good. I will soon be getting my third surgery. Dr. Fan is very good at what he does he gets five start from me. Dr Tommy is also very good, I really like him he is a little laid back which I like. But he has no problem telling you like it is. These two work very good as a team. The ladies in the office are always very nice and carry out their jobs well.

The PA I saw was wonderful. She looked at my hand, measured the cyst on the back of hand & sent me down for x-rays. Immediately upon my return from x-ray, she came back in the room. We looked at the x-rays together. She then went on to explain my options and the process of scheduling surgery should I decide to go that route. This was a very positive experience.

I called because I slipped on our icy porch and came down pretty hard twisting my leg. They fit me in within 2 hours. I really appreciate being able to check myself in easily. I was sent to X-ray first…makes so much more sense than having to see a doctor first. Sean Elliott ANP saw me shortly after my X-Ray’s. I was treated and on my way. I always have a great experience with any, and all, staff I deal with at Hope!

How often do most people look forward to going to the doctor?!! It might sound kind of silly but when I have an appointment at home I really look forward to it ! It has consistently been one of the most attentive compassionate enjoyable thoughtful respectful … your name it. If there’s a positive adjective you can think of, you could pin it to these guys. It never feels like they’re just taking care of business it feels like they really are genuinely wanting to take care of you. I wouldn’t want to go or just send my family anywhere else.

Hope orthopedics is well named. I'm 13 days past my total hip replacement and I am pain free, and mostly pain free from the surgery. I have received the best of care both in person and virtually. I've already recommended hope orthopedics to a friend, and will certainly do so again when the topic comes up. A special thank you to all on my care team, I have a bright future ahead.

Avoid Dr. Knight. My mom was on vacation in Oregon when she fell and broke her back and wrist. The hospital she went to recommended Hope which might be a nice place. However she unfortunately was "cared" for by "Dr" Knight. He said unless my mom wanted to play professional sports she did not need surgery on her broken wrist. I drove down from Washington to get my mom because we had an extra room for her to recover in. We wanted to get a second opinion because of the pain in her wrist so we went to urgent care. They took x-rays and said my mom needed surgery right away or she would lose a lot of

It was a very positive experience from reception to patient care! I did not have an appointment but was able to walk in and schedule same day service. The Receptionist was very helpful and friendly. The X-ray Tech was great as well as the MA. Shawn Elliott was great in explaining what was going on and what temporary relief they could provide! The MA set me up for a follow-up appt with the Sports Med Team. I will recommend Hope Orthopedics to others!

I am very pleased with my experience at Hope Orthopedics. They listened to me, and took very good care of me through my surgery, and aftercare. Excellent Doctor's, nurses, and everyone that I came in contact with. It was the most painful surgery that I have ever had, but they prepared me for it, and stayed in very close contact with me through the recovery. I can't say enough about how much that meant to me. If you want the best care out there, have your doctor refer you to Hope Orthopedics. I am so glad I went there. Thank You to all of you at Hope Orthopedics, you are the BEST.

After months of dealing with a traumatic hand/wrist injury and waiting 6 weeks for an appt, I saw a PA. She was competent and pleasant. No complaints. Gave me an injection which didn't really help. Waited 6 weeks for another appt and this time saw the Doctor. He was cold and aloof and claimed I didn't have a problem which my MRI report CLEARLY says I have. Wasn't willing to do much more than give me another injection and said we will 'see what happens'. My hand/wrist is practically non functional and getting worse. I've scheduled a second opinion with another hand

Wow. The initial Doctor visit was great! After an MRI, I waited a week and called back to check if all was ok. Emily said she would check with the Doctor to see if I needed another visit. A week later, I find out she entered into the records I DECLINED a follow up visit! Totally UNTRUE! So now after 2 weeks of waiting on results, another scheduler will try and ask... "am I ok,
OR do I NEED a follow up visit! Don't make me come in if I'm ok!!! I see why there are so many 1 star reviews!!!

The clinic response is nonsense. Stop pretending to be reasonable. They already told me they will not lift a finger to help. They can't have anything come between a client and their profit. They will not allow me to use the warranty of an expensive brace they required I purchase that was a failure. They charged me personally for changing a splint that had been bled through, no not sent to insurance, insurance probably wouldn't pay to have a splint change because of bleeding so they bill me personally. They bill me to fill out forms that are required by employers and insurance even when

I met with Dr. McCormick today to look at my right foot toe area and he was talking about that I needed him metatarsal pad and we discussed that and he said that they would fit me with a pad before I left he had even mentioned maybe something about taking a cast off my foot but before I left him they would fit me with a pad and he left the room and I sat there and waited because I felt that somebody was coming back and I sat and waited for 35 minutes and nobody came back and I got up I went out the door I looked there was a woman too busy on the telephone to talk to me she just looked at me and

Some doctors are fantastic others not so much. The scheduling is the biggest issue. Though their message says they return calls within 24 hours. I've been waiting a month to get a surgery scheduled that my surgeon felt was important and had a w Dow of opportunity. After two other surgeries have failed me I was pleased that Dr Karlen is in the same league as Dr Sewell who is fantastic. Two other surgeons I have not been pleased with. Again scheduling is poor and without regard for people's schedules. I can understand COVID has an impact, but not the courtesy to return multiple calls is

This is cut and sew operation for $$$$$$ with no concern for a proper diagnosis or patient. After numerous (20+)phone conversations and 8 office visits a MRI ordered by my GP confirmed they had not diagnosed the problem ( a torn knee medial ligament and tendon, not Hope's osteoarthritis !!!). Only wanted to operate, cut and sew, make $$$$$. My GP and PT ordered a brace and after 2 emails and 3 phone calls, I had to GO IN TO THE OFFICE GET THE brace. Cut and sew, $$$$ only.
NO STARS was not a option, unfortunately.

I never review, but there is a reason why this time. I was referred by one of my good doctor friends to see a foot specialist. I was placed on hold for 10+ minutes and when I was finally able to get through the other person on the other end was completely unprofessional and rude. I'm pretty sure that she said her name was Carole. I was asking simple questions about getting a referral and I was talked down to like I was a child. Not too mention that every reply to my questions were condescending and unacceptable. You'd think you would treat your patients and future patients with respect

If it was not for my surgeon, I don't know that I would have given three stars. I wish they would remember the patient's needs but I think they are so busy, this gets lost. Hope encourages patients to use their portal but the messaging function doesn't work, records and appointments aren't current and the only thing I think one can do on the site is pay a bill. I waited 45 minutes to see my surgeon but staff seemed unaware he was behind schedule. Information provided prior to my knee replacement surgery was lost, in error or missing. It was frustrating.

If I were you I would do everything I could to avoid hope orthopedics. Why? Just, do a google search for ''beware of hope orthopedics''. There you will hear how one of their reps in my opinion tried to frame an innocent man for making her feel threatened!

Thank goodness that was recorded! Could you imagine the terror of having her corrupt your medical record by saying you make the staff feel threatened?! Yeah all the patient did was ask for the contact details of their board of directors. I think if you have no choice but to deal with them you should DEMAND THAT EVERYTHING

I have had both knees replaced and I chose Hope for all my rehabilitation services. The therapists are so great here. Jarrod and Marissa, have made sure that I am able to continue my rehab at home as well as at the clinic. They always check in with me BEFORE we begin my regimen for the day making sure I'm still on target with my treatment. The professionalism & compassion these two therapists have shown me has been life changing and I can't thank them enough.
They are also very flexible with their scheduling and I truly appreciate the "Appt Reminder" phone calls they give

My husband needed to see an orthopedic surgeon due to his knee. He saw Dr. Yao and we both really liked him! He was honest up front about what was going on and said from the start what it was!! But we still had to do the X-ray to see for sure that it was a torn meniscus! Well it was about a month and a half later and he had great quick surgery!! He was back to work within 2 weeks or so and has had no problems since the surgery! I will go back to see Dr. Yao if I ever need a surgeon!!! Thank you Dr. for such great bedside manners! You were amazing!!!

I've been going to HOPE Ortho for about 20 years(Western Sports
Medicine). Front desk, PA's, other doctors like Dr. Blake who've
worked out of their location have always treated me w/great respect whether I'm getting shots, x-rays, surgery, or therapy. I've had 6 surgeries w/Dr. Sewell and he is fantastic....Hope Ortho Therapy in
Keizer has always worked hard to get me back to normal as fast as
possible. Keep up the good work, almost looking forward to my next
surgery which will probably be shortly w/my current tear/shoulder freeze problem...that's what happens

Not impressed ! First off, the parking lot is ridiculous..totally full so I drive around in circles before getting a spot. I get inside (still early for my appointment) and a staff member makes an announcement the doctor i am here to see is running 35-40 minutes behind !!! It's 10:15 how do you get that far behind already?!?!?!?! Wish I would have gone elsewhere. So disrespectful of my time and very unprofessional. I did feet bad for the front desk staff bundled up in jackets and gloves ... the entire lobby is freezing!the doctor seemed honest and all but overall experience wasn't great
