The mission of South Lane Mental Health is to restore hope and renew lives through compassionate mental health services, support, and advocacy. While we appreciate that the Governor has removed the mask mandate for most indoor businesses, SLMH is considered a health center and as such we have to follow different regulations.

Services
South Lane Mental Health is governed by a volunteer board of directors, which includes positions for a client and a liaison to the First Presbyterian Church. The Board meets once per month. Board members also serve on operating committees and meet as necessary. Jim Harrison joined the South Lane Mental Health Board of Directors shortly after retiring from a 30-year career in family medicine in 2014.
In winter 1987, a mentally ill homeless woman moved into the First Presbyterian Church in Cottage Grove. Because there were no community mental health or housing resources available, church members allowed her to stay. However, she became paranoid and psychotic and was admitted to a Portland-area psychiatric facility for treatment.
Agility - The needs and expectations of clients, staff, and community partners continually change and evolve. We strive to be flexible and responsive within this changing environment as we change or develop new mission-driven policies, programs, and services. Community - South Lane Mental Health was created by, and continues to receive support from, our local community.
South Lane Mental Health is deeply rooted in the Cottage Grove community, with a rich history of caring and concern. We were established in 1988 by a group of members from Cottage Grove's First Presbyterian Church responding to a need for locally provided mental health services.
