We've made it easy to access electronic versions of our most popular literature at your convenience. When it comes to building durability into a product, nobody does it like State. In fact, we've tested our water heaters in some of the most hostile environments and under the toughest conditions to make sure they last longer and provide many more years of hot water.

Customer service will do everything possible to blame your warranty claim on something other than their product. My previous water heater lasted 21 years in this house but theirs only 3 years on the same exact water system after multiple repairs. Thanks for the lemon! I thought I was buying the best. I’ll go buy another one from the big box store like I should have 3 years ago. Waste of money!

Tank developed a leak in less than 18 months, and had to get a new water heater. Unit was under warranty, but that doesn't cover the labor to replace it. Do not buy this product or let a service install it. If you do purchase one, negotiate with your contractor in advance on what labor costs are included. Terrible product and experience.

Poor customer service. Broad, generalized warranty with every attempt to get out of. Not service tech or customer friendly. Make you jump through hoops with multiple phone calls only to deny warranties. Would give them a 1/2 star if available. Low grade water heater installed in cookie cutter homes. If it makes it past 3 years, consider yourself fortunate.

I had a plumber install 2 State Hot Water Heaters on 8/28/2014. One of them failed (started leaking from the bottom) and had to be replaced on 4/16/2018...3 years and 8 months after installation. The second one failed last week (same thing...began leaking from the bottom...4 years and 7 months after the initial install). Although the hot water heaters were under a 6 year warranty, the labor cost of installing them is not. I have now paid $1268 to have hot waters heaters replaced that in my opinion should still be working. I called the customer service number and after a lengthy hold, was told that

State Water Heaters are an exceptional product. If you are having issues with your heater, it is likely your water and not the heater itself. Call you plumber if you have issues, these products need maintenance and if you have hard or acidic water it is likely the culprit! I love my power vent heater. We have a house of 5 (2 teenage girls) and I always have hot water even after they have showered first.

Tried this product from a local plumbing supply house and it was a mistake. Had it installed professionally by a Master Plumber and the unit supplied no spark nor gas. Called Support, they would supply 1 of 2 items that might fix the issue, a gas valve, and I had to pay for the other; the pilot assembly. Neither remedied the issue and they say that we have two bad gas valves; still no fix. 10 days without hot water. I have had many water heaters installed as a property manager and never had a problem before trying State Water Heaters.

State water heater install in home by local plumbers in 2013 and now in 2019 heating element went out and plumber said our warranty should still be good for another 6 weeks according to when it was installed. They have been arguing with the State Water Heater manufacturer who says the warranty starts when the plumbers buy it. So if the plumbing company bought some and they were in their warehouse for a year that would take one year off the warranty. The plumbers told me they hate this manufacturer who has no customer service and always finds a way to not honor the warranty. I will be sure to spread

Had a State Electric Water Heater installed approx. 3 years ago. It failed. Leaked out. Called 800 number. They were quite helpful. Inquired about damage from leak....and sounded like they could have some assistance available..fortunately I didn't need it. - I had some problems getting all required paperwork together in the time-frame allowed for my warranty reimbursement...and had no problem getting that check.
Now, I would have preferred to not have had the problem in such a short period of time....and I purchased another State heater. So, here's hoping it lasts me a good long time!

Chose a State 75-gallon water heater on recommendation from local plumber. Purchased it myself from the factory and had pros install it. The water heater itself is great, but over the 9 years I've had it, I've had problems with the pilot not staying lit, three replacements of the thermocouple, and now, have to have the gas control valve replaced. Can't find the part anywhere near my town - had to order it from NJ. So even with FedEx shipping will end up being without hot water for 4 days unless I replace the water heater entirely. Unacceptable service/parts performance in 2017.
