Dr. Benjamin Vela is a Corpus Christi native and graduate of King High School. With degrees from St. Mary's University and UT Health Science Center in San Antonio Dental School, Dr. Vela moved back to Corpus.

Staff was very cordial and helpful . It is rare to call a medical office and receive a receptive professional assistance on the phone. They answer your questions . Dr Vela also is helpful understanding some of us have such a fear of dentist, but not with him or his staff. I value their care of patients.i highly recommend his staff and care of his patients. I love coming here. Everyone is so friendly and funny!! Dr Vela came in on a day he was off back in March when I had an infection and treated me with kindness and helped me out a whole lot! Alayna, (I’m not too sure if I spelled it right or not!! I apologize If I botched it.) is the best!!! Love her so much she’s always so careful and kind when I come in. Never thought I’d say that I look forward to a dentist appointment but I look forward to them every month for my braces. Love this office.

The whole procedure was really smooth. The assistants were a delight. The doctor didn’t even introduce himself however. Just came in pulled my teeth out and left. Kind of odd and unprofessional. I do want to say that I was told that I could have opted out of the laughing gas and saved $90. I didn’t need the gas as I wasn’t nervous. But when I was initially told about my options for either the gas or the oral sedation they didn’t specify that I could just opt to do neither and save money. Kind of disappointed because I’m all about saving money and not having to do extra unnecessary stuff

I'm extremely pleased... And I highly recommend. The staff is phenomenal. I was extremely scared of dentist. They talked to me and put my mind at ease. And to be honest.. with the whole process. It's been fantastic.
My husband was even pleased when he came to pick me up. He told me that he's never seen the staff. Explain detail to detail of what they did. What to expect after the procedure. That they are very professional.

Dr. Vela and the staff are absolutely awesome! I had a bad broken tooth and had been to two other dentists. They wouldn’t touch it!🙄 Dr. Vela assessed the situation and felt confident that he could get it out and he did with ease. The ladies in the office were very kind and friendly. Dr. Vela was very thorough and explained everything to me prior to starting as well as made me feel perfectly at ease! I 100% recommend the Vela Dentistry to everyone!

Very clean office. The staff was super nice. Dr. Vela actually took the time to explain what he wanted to do and why things were occurring with my teeth. The Hygienist actually took her time cleaning my teeth and making sure she got everything cleaned properly. Even though I have insurance this is also the most affordable dentist I have visited. I absolutely loved this experience and will definitely be staying with them!

The best dental office in town! The doctor is kind and compassionate. The front office staff is courteous and make you feel welcome the minute you walk in. They explain everything so you understand exactly what you’re paying for. It is bit expensive if you’re on a budget but they do everything they can to accommodate you. The assistants are the best! Funny, kind, compassionate and they engage with you as if they were your best friend! I loved that! That made my experience so much easier! I definitely recommend Vela Dental Center- Southside!

Vela dental makes you feel as if you are there to simply generate revenue flow. Had to tell them twice that they were not billing me in accordance with my plan, and when I asked for a refund it took two attempts and several months to finally receive it. The thing that made me switch dentists was the statement I received from my insurance company listing a billing for x-rays they never performed.

Went to this dentist at recommendation of co-workers who got cleanings there, but no more. First red flag: when my company changed insurance providers, Vela refused to switch their billing and instead sent me all the bills. When I asked why they didn't bill my new provider- one of the main insurance companies in America and highly rated- they were rude and didn't tell me why. Eventually they did bill my new insurance company, but overcharged me and had to issue a refund. But it took MONTHS to even get the refund. To make matters much worse, a crown they did a year ago already failed.

Just had my first visit with Dr Vela. They exceeded my expectations and that's not easy. When I first checked in the admin staff said they were having problems verifying my coverage- why didn't they let me know? Idk. But, from there on I was pleasantly surprised and pleased with the staff and procedures. I told them I am very anxious about dental stuff - they heard me and altered procedures accordingly. Can't say I look forward to my next appointment but I'm not dreading it!! Thanks so much.

BUYER BEWARE! It is business of Vela Dental to cut corners. They use sub par material manufacturers and take no responsibility once they get your money and you walk out the door.
The staff was professional, knowledgeable and all smiles when they took my $20,000 over the course of 2 years. But when at the end of that second year, my front tooth cap chipped in half, and the first molar cap broke off in half, they took zero responsibility. Sure they would fix it. For another $3000. They would even give me a generous 5% discount. And it really wouldn't cost me that much because it

First visit was ok, but they damage my other tooth in the process. I over look that and 5 mth later call to make an appointment. Office people didn't have an updated record of what they already did and then I request antibiotics so I can make an appointment afterward. Again, no up to date record of what medication I took. Instead they blame the pharmacy for giving something else and said i had to wait till the next day or the following week until the main dentist comes in for vacation. Office staff never wanted to over and beyond what they had to do to help me get what I need and never called
