When it comes to your final arrangements, shouldn't you make the decisions? The arrangements you make will reflect your exact wishes and desires. Pre-arranging your own service will help to ease the burden of your loved ones. It will also alleviate any questions, problems or differences, which can occur among family members.
The basic Military Funeral Honors (MFH) ceremony consists of the folding and presentation of the United States flag to the veterans' family and the playing of Taps. The ceremony is performed by a funeral honors detail consisting of at least two members of the Armed Forces. The Funeral Honors rendered to you or your veteran will be determined by the status of the veteran.
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) furnishes upon request, at no charge to the applicant, a Government headstone or marker for the unmarked grave of any deceased eligible veteran in any cemetery around the world, regardless of their date of death. When the grave is already marked, applicants will have the option to apply for either a traditional headstone or marker, or a new device (available spring 2009).
A United States flag is provided, at no cost, to drape the casket or accompany the urn of a deceased veteran who served honorably in the U. S. Armed Forces. It is furnished to honor the memory of a veteran's military service to his or her country. Generally, the flag is given to the next-of-kin, as a keepsake, after its use during the funeral service.

I will try to make this brief, but how could I ever express my gratitude to Winfrey Mutual in a few words. My Aunt passed away suddenly in GA. Her family was distraught and asked me to get her body transported from the hospital and back to North Carolina. I knew nothing about the area and all I could do is pray that God would direct me to a GOOD funeral home, and God did one better, he directed me to Winfrey. My mom passes away in Georgia and we needed to find a funeral home that would arrange for her body to flown to NY, where her 98 year old mother and most of her relatives reside. My sister and I just prayed and asked the Lord to lead us to a funeral home that was Black owned and would be compassionate, sensitive to our needs and professional. Well, our prayers were answered!! Mrs Anna L. Winfrey and the staff at Winfrey Mutual were very comforting, compassionate and attentive to me and my family. Mrs Anna Lisa went above and beyond to ensure the "business" was taken care of, beyond the completion of the final service. My nephew, Denzel Robert Smith, passed away suddenly at the age of 29. His untimely death, in his sleep, left us in disbelief and inconsolable grief. The compassion and professionalism that Anna LIsa and her team demonstrated made every phase of the process more bearable. Little things and final touches that she recommended made a huge difference in how we honored my nephew. Family and friends noted how dignified and celebratory the services were, and how well cared for we all were. No one wants to need these services.
