Our goal is two-fold; First, we hope to introduce you to Natureworks, a very special retail garden center in Southern Connecticut. Although small in size (we are located on merely an acre of land!) we pack a lot into a little space. Our shop is in a 125-year-old house and is filled to overflowing with unique gifts and gardening accessories in every season.
The plant benches in our yard are packed with an amazing variety of fascinating plants, from old-fashioned flowers to the latest cutting-edge introductions. We place a special focus on native plants, pollinator friendly selections, butterfly larval food plants (such as milkweed) and nectar flowers, and plants to attract birds to your yard.

Services
I have a degree in Floriculture from the Ratcliffe Hicks School of Agriculture at the University of CT. I originally attended UCONN in liberal arts, intending to become an elementary school teacher. My first job was as greenhouse manager at Glen Terrace Nurseries in Hamden. I started Natureworks in 1983 with $500 in my pocket and a bright gold Datsun pickup truck.

It is a manual for garden designers which identifies the bloom time and characteristics of perennials and includes shrubs and vines often found in perennial gardens. It has an easy to use chart-like format. If you're looking to create a new garden, reference this book as you create your design plan.

We are leaders in organic growing methods and education is a key aspect of our business. Natureworks is a retail garden center and landscape design and maintenance company. To help you with your gardening endeavors, we sell many earth-friendly garden related items at our Northford, CT shop. We accept on-line payments for a few specific items such as GIFT CERTIFICATES, CLASSES, SUCCESSION OF BLOOM BOOKS and some EVENTS and WORKSHOPS.
Since its inception in 1983 Natureworks has been nothing but organic, making due with what little was available and brewing homemade concoctions. Thankfully the market has broadened and we are now able to offer many exceptional organic products for your home as well as those of our landscape clients.
