Sampson's Prosthetic & Orthotic Laboratory was founded in 1968 by the late William Sampson Sr. He began his career in the profession in 1950 as an apprentice for a New York City firm and after seven years, he was certified by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics (ABC).
During your initial examination, one of our practitioners will evaluate your condition, and recommend the prosthesis or orthosis you need. A lower extremity patient will undergo a gait analysis and alignment is checked and measured; an upper extremity patient will be tested for upper body strength and manual dexterity.
Insurance carriers pay for many of our services. Our administrative staff will be happy to answer any questions about our participation with your insurance provider. You will need to bring your insurance cards, prescriptions, and/or claim forms with you at the time of your visit. Please remember that you are personally responsible for any co-payment, balance or fee for an uninsured visit or service not paid by your insurance company.
Depending on the level of your amputation, physical ability and functional needs, each prosthesis will be somewhat different. If you desire a "cosmetic look, " prosthetic supplements are available. But, for most standard prostheses, they are comprised of conventional component parts attached to a socket that fits over your residual limb.
Engineered to accommodate amputees seeking a knee that adjusts to walking, running, uneven terrain, and occasional water exposure. The MyoPro orthosis is a powered brace that supports a weakened and deformed arm for functional use. Aims to provide natural knee function by continuously adapting to the user and environment.

My husband has been going to Bill for almost 30 years! Bill has made him and myself feel more like family than patients. Gary and Sid are not only great at what they do, but always friendly and genuine. The office staff is always the epitome of friendly and professional! Have never had a bad experience. We travel from Utica to Schnectady to see Bill even though we have many prosthetists in our area. Better to go with the best and travel than stay close to home for mediocre!
