Maher Funeral Home
These are our main values: Respect, Dignity, Personal Attention, Service. They come from our family. But also, they come from our neighbors, friends, teachers, coaches, religious instructors, veterans, union members, police officers, firefighters, and public servants. We were raised in a community where to this day, even as adults, we still address our elders as "Mr." or "Mrs."

This value is at the core of the service we provide to you and your loved ones. You will not be meeting with corporate employees nor will your calls and questions go unanswered. Instead, when your family is in need, there is nothing more important than providing you options in keeping with your family's traditions.
Services
Norman and Marian Maher, both from the Southside of Chicag0 (Canaryville, Hyde Park, Burnside, and Pill Hill) moved their young family to our community in 1973 where they made their home until they passed away.

Since 2015, the Maher Funeral Home and Law Practice in the former Tinley Park public library has continued the traditions of our community in providing attentive, personal, authentic services to those experiencing grief by trying to make a family loss and legal challenges a bit easier.Pictured at the left is the Maher family during a celebration.
We were raised by a strong mother who was involved in music most of her life as a pianist, organist, and church choir director, the PTA, sold residential real estate, administered a local funeral home for 35 years, and was a friend to all.

Our father was a witty man who enjoyed laughter, good times, history, reading, and thinking of others - all attributes our parents instilled in us at a young age - and which by our chosen professions in the military, an orphanage, academics, the funeral service, and the law, we seek to apply for the betterment of our community and our country. On the left is Phillip A. Maher, Funeral Director, and on the right is John N. Maher, Attorney.
Attorney John N. Maher will soon be an Illinois licensed pre-need life insurance provider in association with CFL life insurance company. Until that time, our friends at CFL Life Insurance write all our policies. When it comes to your final arrangements, shouldn't you make your own decisions?

And, pre-arranging your funeral is a responsible part of the peace of mind you get from an overall estate plan, usually consisting of your will, power of attorney for property, power of attorney for medical care, trust, and ensuring that your life insurance and retirement accounts are up-to-date with your intended beneficiaries.Pre-payment will protect you from the rising cost of prices, and it will not be a financial burden on your loved ones.
Funerals fill an important role for those mourning the loss of a loved one. By providing surviving family and friends with an atmosphere of care and support in which to share thoughts and feelings about death, funerals are the first step in the healing process. It is the traditional way to recognize the finality of death.
Webhealing.com, the first interactive grief website on the internet, offers discussion boards, articles, book suggestions, and advice for men and women working through every aspect of grief. The site's founder, Tom Golden LCSW, has provided book excerpts and contact information to help those healing from loss.

We had our services for our grandmother here and it was nothing short of exceptional. The facility used to be the Tinley Park Library when I was a child and they kept some of that feel with all the bookshelves that line the walls. The staff was seemed extremely passionate about what they are doing and it really shows in the presentation of the home and the way they made my family and I feel. I would highly recommend having your services done here.

3.5 stars: Lost 1.5 stars mostly for the pastor that they recommended (more information at the end of this review) & not respecting non-religious requests. This location REALLY is the best funeral home I have been to based off atmosphere & employees/owners, which is weird to say...but I have been to a lot. It didn't have a smell, didn't have an old feel, the walls look like they have been recently painted, their amenities were great, the staff was amazing, and they did an AMAZING job at her makeup. My grandma has always had a bunch of bruises on her and they did a great job at covering them and

Where do I begin to express how much gratitude my family has for Phil and Uncle Bob. The most compassionate and wonderful men. You all opened up your home to us but also your hearts. The hardest task I thought I would ever have to do in life is making sure my Mother had beautiful service for all of us to send her home to the Lord. Maher family stepped right up in this trying times and made all my worries disappear. Took every crazy phone call at all times of the day and made everything work out. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart that you came into our lives just when everything was falling

Words cannot express the love, admiration and appreciation my family and I have for Phil and Uncle Bob. Our family was hit with 2 deaths (Both Grandparents within weeks of each other; married 43 years) and the level of care and detail that Maher offered was beyond my wildest expectations. The professionalism and the beauty of the place and the people go a long way, especially during a difficult time. Any request that was made and/or question, was answered promptly. I have interacted with many in this line of work and no one; I mean NO ONE compares to this place. You family will be treated with

My father was a Veteran who passed away recently. I can’t say enough kind words about Mr. Maher and the Maher Funeral Home as they gave him a very respectful service, handled everything for him, brought me peace of mind in knowing he was well-cared for, and coordinated with the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery to give him the burial that our country’s servicemen and servicewomen deserve. I can think of no better place to take care of your loved ones that have passed. I am forever grateful.

When the unexpected happens it's hard to even keep your own thoughts straight much less figuring out how to handle a funeral. After doing a few quick searches we met Phillip and toured the Maher Funeral Home. It was the old Tinley Park Library and our mother loved to read. I think it was meant to be because the kindness and compassion which is certainly needed during these tough times was just above and beyond from Phillip and the hard-working employees he has at the facility. I know that finding a place to say goodbye is difficult. And saying goodbye to our mother was by far the hardest thing

Amazing! Phil and Uncle Bob are so compassionate, patient and respectful. I hated to have to bury my dad, a World War II, but these two made it easy for the family, taking care of every little request and detail to make his services memorable. Way past the family's expectations. Thank you.

Our family met Phil Maher on May 5th, 2016, the day after my dear daughter passed away.
Phil was favorably recommend to us by the family of a former teacher of his.
The inside of Maher Funeral Home had an open, light and airy feel with an understated elegance and sophistication that was truly uplifting.
During our time of need, Phil touched our hearts like family and cared for us like a dear friend.
We were comforted by his compassion and sensed that he was following a much deeper calling that went beyond just fulfilling his funeral director responsibilities.
We felt that Phil and the uplifting

I would highly recommend Phil Maher to anyone looking for funeral services. Our family has worked with the owner, Phil, twice in the last few years and are very thankful for his personalized care and attention to details. Phil is extremely respectful of the whole process and does everything he can to take care of all the little things that make an emotional situation go smoothly. It felt like having a family friend be there for you in a time of need.
