Photography has always been a passion of mine since high school, with an interest in black and white darkroom printing and was the photography editor for our high school yearbook as well as co-editor at the Medical College of Virginia while in Dental School. I use clinical photography daily in my dental practice and during travels my camera is always with me.
Dr. Makarita changed my life. For years, I had been extremely hesitant to leave the house alone because I was worried that someone would engage me in conversation, and I envisioned their disgust if I were to accidentally smile or show my teeth. I discontinued my college education because I was fearful of showing my teeth during class discussions; in fact, I withdrew from any activity that might cause me to show my teeth.
Veneers are thin, custom-made moldings that cover the fronts of unsightly teeth. Crafted from tooth-colored, high-tech materials, they portray a natural and bright smile. Veneers can cover unattractive gaps, mask stained or crooked teeth as well as minor twists and overlaps. Individually sculpted for each patient and tooth, it is nearly impossible to tell the difference between a veneer and a natural tooth.

It is always very pleasant with the entire office personnel. My smile is so beautiful! Dr. Makarita is truly the very best at cosmetic dentistry. He has an engineer’s eye for perfection. I was examined by three other cosmetic dentists with their suggested treatment. When Dr. Makarita explained the process and showed me other complicated cases he had done I knew I was in good hands. Dr. Makarita is very patient explaining the process. He corrected my bite which was causing many problems including gum recession. I am very happy two years later!

Dr. Makarita is absolutely amazing. He literally saved my life. I suffered from severe jaw joint pains and migraines for years before I met him. I tried all sorts of things based on various medical advice and recommendations but nothing worked. It was a miracle that I met him in 2007 after receiving a brochure in the mail describing Temporomandibular joint dysfunction (tmj/tmd). He was very sincere, honest, empathetic and highly knowledgeable about my medical condition. He came up with a treatment plan and fixed the problem! Since I was a kid I go to different dentists very often because it’s truly hard to find the right one for you. I was looking for a solution for a severe TMJ issue. I didn't realize that it was my earlier braces and dental work when I was younger that actually contributed to the problem. I was referred to Dr. Makarita, who explained what was causing my pain and made the splint for my jaw that helped with the immediate pain. Since I really liked my teeth and smile, it took me a year to work up the trust and courage to take the next step for a more permanent solution. Dr Makarita is one in a million, he is the best I have come across in the Washington metropolitan area ( I’ve lived in the area for 43 years). At first his kind and fun personality draws you in; then you witness his attention to details which far surpasses any other dentist I’ve been to. He’s very knowledgeable and his work is very clean. I've had so much dental drama that my teeth could star in their own telenovela! I am so thankful that I found Dr. Makarita to save me from all of this! I was told long ago, by my Doctor in CA if you get veneers make sure you find the very best dentist who specializes and will take the time, to place them correctly or you will need to have them redone!
