A crown (or cap) is a covering that encases the entire tooth surface restoring it to its original shape and size. A crown protects and strengthens tooth structure that cannot be restored with fillings or other types of restorations. I recently moved to Glenside and have been looking for a new dentist. I walked past Dynamic Modern Dentistry (DMD) and went inside. They asked me for my insurance card to see if I was covered. I was out of network but DMD told me I should still go there and they would file the claim, and I would pay them and be reimbursed in full. Well, the check came today -- I was not reimbursed in full, because DMD charges three times the allowable amount by United Concordia. I called DMD, and they told me that is what they charge and they don't know what the insurance's allowable amount is. I am out $300 from
