Research Triangle High School provides globally competitive Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education by pioneering models of teaching and learning. I like being able to take notes on my own at home (while watching Flipped videos) because then I don't have to slow down in class. I'm able to take in more information that way.
Services
Research Triangle High School was founded in 2012 to increase access to globally competitive Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education for students and teachers across North Carolina, by incubating, proving and scaling innovative models of teaching and learning.

Our faculty and staff are committed to preparing our students for college and beyond by helping them move from being a teacher-directed, dependent learner to an independent, self-guided one.We strive to prepare students for the 21st century workforce by instilling in students the skills, habits of thinking and digital literacy that global companies seek.
In addition to your time, we need financial contributions to support the future of STEM education. Research Triangle High School is chartered by the Contemporary Science Center, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. You may be able to double your donation to Research Triangle High School.
RTHS was founded in 2012 to increase access to globally competitive STEM education. We choose to do that by teaching our students that knowledge is less important than what you do with knowledge. The world is awash in information, and the wealth of the future lies in what creative and innovative application of that knowledge our graduates can apply.
Our ideal teachers have a strong background in their content area, are keen to take on our model of Personalized Learning, use data and an LMS to personalize learning for their students. Applicants selected for an interview will be contacted via email. The RTHS interview process is rigorous. Successful applicants will meet with members of the faculty and school leadership for conversation and a formal interview.
We are a community of learners with varied backgrounds. Those who are willing to work hard will be able to take on the challenge of an RTHS education. Those who are ready to learn from RTP STEM experts and Triangle arts and humanities experts will find RTHS a truly engaging and rewarding place to learn.

My oldest child (not on the PLP) would have floundered at a large public high school, floating along the seas of 600 classmates and doing "fine." Meanwhile, at RTHS, he has excelled, academically and personally. My younger child started on the PLP system this year. While I freely admit it isn't for everyone, he has gained great insights into how he learns best. I feel he's going to be more prepared for college than so many high school grads who expect to be given a strict set of directives with one method of accomplishing them. And let's be honest - kids don't pay attention 100% of the time in

So proud to have been a member of the first graduating class. Those 4 years went by so fast, then again, when I think about the things I did, I begin realize how long the journey was.

This was an alright school the first 3 years. My 4th year was okay but for the new freshman it seemed terrible so this is mostly a warning. I have a sibling in the 9th grade at RTHS and they started using a new system called the PLP. It seemed very frustrating considering that it was implied that none of the teachers knew how to use it. The standard way we have been taught seemed just fine. I don't know how true this is but teachers have been talking about how a great number of the freshman are behind and not on track and basically failing. They also started using mentors which seemed like a struggle

Recently charters schools have been getting a bad rap. Please do not listen to negativity when considering RTHS for your child. My daughter has attended parochial, public and now is a student at RTHS. I never met a more caring staff than at RTHS. The teachers, administration and faculty all have an interest in your child's success. From the stunning facility that they own to the labs where your child will achieve their academic goals, you will not find a better high school in the triangle.

My son loves it. Loves the teachers, the STEM classes offered, the academic challenges available, all the clubs and activities, the location and the benefits from the partnerships with RTP companies such as Biogen, etc.
