How do I know when it's time to service my bike? If you can hear any noise other than the wind while riding, it means your bike needs attention. Some other signs are squeaky brakes, clicks or squeaks, and loose or difficult shifting. How often should I service my bike? Most bicycles need service every 25 hours of use.
The maintenance schedule for a bike can vary somewhat on how often it's ridden and what condition if bikes ridden off-road or in the rain will need a little more TLC. Tune-up prices may vary depending on the bike's condition; extremely dirty or rusty bikes may increase the price. Newer bikes may not need as much work and will adjust the pricing accordingly.

We were from out of state (only for that one day) and desperate so we called this shop to fix brakes and true the rims. John was able to get us into the shop as soon as I called him. No waiting and it didn't take John long to fix the issues. He charges excellent prices to make repairs. As a result I was able to ride my bike that day on trails and not miss out.

What a hidden gem for Raleigh! I was guided to this spot early one morning when while loading up bikes for a road trip out of state, one of our tires needed a new innertube. John's business was the only one open before 9am. I called and off we scooted to the site, which was less than 2 miles away. What a nice set up in those storage units! He took great care in his work and explained what he was doing & gave some tips. We were out and putting things back on the rack in record time! We appreciate John and his business.

Visited John's shop today. Great experience all around. First, he inspected my bike and made suggestions on needed repairs and others that we could do in the future. He gave me a cost for each and after I decided what to get done, he did the repairs then and there while I waited. I don't think you'll find better pricing anywhere and the work appears to be well done. I would definitely recommend John and his shop.

John's handled my issues with my bicycle with the same care great surgeons give their patients. John listened intently on why I wanted to ride and how it felt when I rode the bike. He then meticulously touched and squeezed each part of my bike to diagnose the issues! After it was all done, it was clear that John would take care of any brake and chain problem. The pricing was so good that I HAD to tip above and beyond what a normal tip would be ... just because he also guarantees his work for a limited time. Highly recommend John to anyone. Fabulous experience and he is quick too.

As a new resident to the area, I decided to get my bike serviced with John based on the great reviews found here, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. I struggle writing this, because of my selfishness in not wanting to let this gem out into the world. If you think that a professional level of service is only acquired at name brand shops, then maybe it's time to expand your thinking. John gives a professional level of service that, because of his low overhead, doesn't get in your wallet like those bigger shoppes do. John also doesn't have to upsellI you to a new bike that you really don't need or can afford. It is purely high quality work at a budget price. I kick myself when I think about how much $$ I've spent at some of these shoppes in town

Brought my Santa Cruz Heckler to John for a tune-up. The bike sat for at least a couple years, sadly. Over that time the front brakes locked up and my thumb shifters stopped working. I was fully prepared to pay something beyond the typical tune-up charge and perhaps even need to purchase new parts; however, within 24 hours, John had everything working properly and the bike fully tuned up. Outstanding work and, as importantly, a honest interaction. Cant recommend enough!

I picked this business from Yelp reviews to have my new road bike repaired from damage during shipping and for tuneup and a safety check. John was just fantastic and got me in same day and made temporary repairs and made all adjustments needed. He had excellent COVID precautions in place and explained everything he was doing and why as I waited. The final cost was extremely reasonable and my bike rides perfectly. I will use him for for all my repair needs in the future.

I purchased a bike on June 15 and got a fabulous bike at a reasonable price. But even better, we brought our old bike for repairs for an underprivileged child and John would not let us pay . John is great at what he does. I brought my bicycle in with a friend of mine. I had the bike in storage for years, so I wasn't sure if it was worth it to have it fixed. John's shop is in a storage area, and it was very nice. We sat in chairs while John told us exactly what he was doing. I was on a budget and I did not want to spend a lot. I had gotten the 18 Speed from a friend at church for $20. John had told me $60, and that was what I paid. John replaced the tires and the inner tubes and the fly wheel(?), with perfectly good used ones, from other bikes that had been wrecked or what

He's efficient and had my bike fixed up in no time - I'm talking complete tune up and new wheels in a matter of hours. AND, the price was better than any other repair or bike shop around. I needed to get my 7-year-old son's bike's rear derailleur fixed or replaced, and called John to see if he was willing. Since it wasn't a high end bike, I didn't want to spend a lot of money on it (plus he'll outgrow the bike in a few years). John was super nice, said he would get it fixed for me for a good price, and he was true to his word. We waited about 15 minutes as he found a used derailleur to replace it with, and the bike works better than before. Great guy, great experience. Since he works out of a mini-storage location, he's a little hard to find.

Have purchased 3 bikes from John and let me tell you, they are all in great shape and at a fraction of the price of a retail store. He also did a restoration of a Dave Mirra Haro for me and I was blown away at how great it looked. Last year, a few days before a 200 mile ride, John installed a new chain and cassette. Very professional and convenient and I had no fear of him working on my $4000 Cannondale Supersix Evo with Di2 electric shifting. John runs a repair shop and has a small warehouse of bikes that he stores in a storage unit on Capital Boulevard. I found him on Craigslist as I was looking to purchase a hybrid bike. He is a very genuine businessman who definitely seemed out for my best interests. He let me demo nearly 10 hybrid bikes which he had out an ready upon my arrival. Additionally, I was able to trade in my seldom-used road bike. He also answered several questions I had.
I highly recommend using John if you're in the market for a used bike, to trade in a bike, or to have routine maintenance completed on your bike

Well the 'warning' experience described here was nearly the polar opposite from the experience my wife and I had with John this past weekend. I've been looking to get back in to cycling for some time and after the sticker shock of the new stock in stores... I had searched for someone that sold re-furbed or used bikes and found John via Craig's List for Raleigh.

I would like to clarify something since this is an ongoing theme in the one other review that made it through Yelp's filters and the 5 others that were blocked by Yelp due to being shill reviews: John was very professional during the purchase process.
