In 1990 we had the fortunate opportunity of the Southern Alameda County Association of Realtors, SACAR, (currently the Bay East Association of Realtors) asking us to be the insurance broker for their insurance programs. In 1992 there was a void in real estate errors & omissions insurance. SACAR asked us to look into finding errors & omissions insurance for their Members.
E&O helps protect professionals against allegations of negligence by a client and seeking to be indemnified. E&O can provide defense and may pay damages if there is a settlement or judgment. As an independent insurance brokerage, we work for you to find the best policy/price available that would be the best fit for you and your business.
What happens if one of your Associates or your client's e-mail is hacked resulting in a fraudulent wire transfer? What happens if your files and/or computers, discs, external hard drives are lost or misplaced and your clients' personal data falls into the wrong hands? Back in April of 2004 the California Labor and Workplace Development Agency informed the California Association of Realtors that it intended to take aggressive action against any real estate office that wasn't carrying a worker's compensation policy for their office and their salespersons even though they are independent contractors.
