When life throws us curveballs, it's common to feel overwhelmed, uncomfortable, and fearful of ourselves. Learn ways to process your experiences and find your inner peace. This practice was founded on the knowledge that pain in people's lives can stem from a variety of sources, and if that pain goes unresolved, it can crop up in many unwanted places.

It can affect relationships, work or school performance, the ability to set and reach goals, and personal happiness in general. It can cause anxious feelings so intense, that it impedes a person's ability to do anything at all. Negative and painful feelings can start to control your life - but you don't have to let them.
Services
Rachel is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (License # 75165) in the state of California, and has been providing therapy to individuals, couples, and groups since 2007. She uses a variety of therapeutic modalities, depending on her clients' needs. These include psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), interpersonal therapy, motivational interviewing, cognitive processing therapy and exposure therapy.
Many people who were abused or neglected as children have a difficult time seeing themselves in a positive light and struggle to maintain healthy relationships as adults. If you were a victim of repetitive physical, emotional, or sexual abuse, or neglected as a child, you may be suffering from what is known as "complex trauma".
But if you find that your worries are impacting your ability to complete your daily tasks and generally live your life, you may be suffering from an anxiety disorder. Physical symptoms, such as a racing heart, sweaty palms, shortness of breath, or feeling shaky or trembling. Excessive worry of impending doom - out of proportion for what might be expected in a given situation.
Depression is often visualized as a dark cloud following a person around, constantly hanging over them. To someone with depression, that visual can seem quite accurate. Those struggling with depression often have persistent feelings of sadness and hopelessness, regardless of their situation and environment.
Sometimes, we are able to make this adjustment easily. But other times, this adjustment brings added stress, anxiety, feelings of loss, and sadness, and these changes can begin to negatively affect our daily lives and ability to function normally. Therapy can help you discover and process your true feelings about any change in your life, thereby reducing your emotional distress.

Wow. I met Rachel a few months ago at a professional event, figuring I'd never need a therapist. The more I got to know her, the more I just knew there were people out there that needed her. She is so wise, and centered, and peaceful to speak with... Fast forward a few months and my dear sister is going through a terrible time in her life, marriage, children, health, etc. I have always been the 'go to' for my sister and always prided myself on being a solid guide for her. However, her situation is so tough that I was fearful I didn't have the horsepower needed and fearful I might give her wrong

As a new mom, participating in Rachel's postpartum support group has been a breath of fresh air for me as I navigate this new chapter in my life. Rachel's calm and non-judgmental presence puts me at ease and makes it easy for me to share my challenges, as well as my wins in a group setting. I enthusiastically recommend Rachel as your next therapist.
