Mr. Voss is a trial attorney. Although he has handled a variety of civil and criminal litigation, he now concentrates his practice in the areas of complex family law. Mr. Voss represents clients through all aspects of separation and divorce, including child custody and support, spousal support, property division, and negotiation of marital settlement agreements.
A divorce is a family law decree entered by a circuit court that officially and legally dissolves a marriage and creates new legal relationships between the former husband and wife. It typically includes the outline for the separation of duties and responsibilities relating to assets and liabilities, ownership and use of property, any designated spousal support and the ongoing custody and support of children.
Child custody and child support are the court's assignment of care-taking and monetary support responsibilities for a child following a separation/divorce, or if the parties have never married or lived together and cannot agree on these decisions. Ultimately, these decisions are best made through the compromise of both parents, but often times such comprises cannot be achieved.
Domestic violence involves any violent, forceful, or threatening and abusive speech or action inflicted on another. Unfortunately, the vast majority of domestic violence incidences go unreported as the victims quietly suffer through repeated patterns of abuse.
