I was seen by Kevin Costello at the Morehead location earlier this week. I'm pretty disgusted at how I was treated. I felt my pain was not taken seriously and I was given the option of injections or a spinal cord stimulator. I tried expressing that I have had injections in the past to no avail and have not obtained long term relief. I cannot afford nor do I want a spinal cord stimulator implanted in my spine. The provider was not understanding and I felt stigmatized by him. I'll be going elsewhere.

I saw a provider at Southeast Pain & Spine last week for evaluation and assuming responsibility for pain management as my spine surgeon’s office sent a referral over. He wanted me to have injections which I’ve already had. Was not a good experience as I am going to have to pay two bills out of pocket for a 10 minute consultation with no treatment options

The worst doctor in Charlotte!!!! I saw Dr Costello two weeks ago for sciatic pain and he performed an injection that did not work. He would not prescribe medications and told me “I’m not that kind of pain specialist” when I queried about pain medications. Very disappointed. Staff was rude here also

It is my opinion that you should not see Southeast Pain and Spine if you are suffering from chronic pain and are looking to be established with a pain specialist.
Southeast Pain and Spine constantly gave me the run around in only pushing injections and surgical procedures on me for my conditions in my lower back (DDD, spondylosis). I tried explaining that I have had injections in the past but still have chronic pain. The providers here would not prescribe medications and said I could get a stimulator implanted in my spine.
I do not recommend Southeast Pain and Spine if you are looking for a reputable

The negative reviews are legit. Don’t fall for the owner response of “this is not a real patient…..”
I saw Dr Costello here this morning. He was only interested in offering me injections that I have already had in my lower back. Even when I told him they do not offer substantial relief, he said only thing he can offer are injections or a spinal cord stimulator.
The providers here are not credible pain specialists in my opinion. They are focused on generating as much money out of you as possible from injections and surgical procedures. Based on my experience they do not prescribe pain

Disappointing experience. I saw Dr Costello today for a new patient assessment to assume responsibility of pain management from another provider in another state (I recently moved to Charlotte).
I have been on medication for years due to failed back surgery. Dr Costello was in and out of the room in less than 5 minutes and stated he will only offer injections or a spinal cord stimulator. I have exhausted every injection in the pain management playbook and I cannot afford the cost of a spinal cord stimulator.
This was a quite frustrating experience for me today. Do not go here if you are looking

I’m another one of these unfortunate patients that has been mistreated by this so called “pain and spine clinic”.
Kevin Costello only wants to put me on a spinal cord stimulator for my lower back issues. I always wonder why he only offers injections with a pushy focus on getting a spinal cord stimulator... it must be because it is a big revenue generator for pain management doctors.
I do not recommend southeast pain and spine if you have legitimate chronic pain that interferes with your quality of life. Based on my experience, you will be offered injections or a surgical procedure and maybe

I certainly will not be coming back here. My first appointment was last week for an MRI review of my lower back with Dr Costello. I expressed I did not want surgery and wanted conservative treatment measures like medication and physical therapy. He kept insisting I get a spinal cord stimulator implanted in my lower back. I have never walked away so bothered after a doctor’s appointment

Do not go here if you suffer from chronic pain. I was a former patient here and in my opinion the treatment here is “watered down pain management”. Meaning the providers are only interested in generating as much revenue out of you as possible through injections and expensive surgical procedures that are not proven to relieve back pain.
Where else do you get two separate bills (1. Provider bill 2. Atrium Health bill) just from having a 10-15 minute consultation with a provider? These run upwards of $500-$600 out of pocket after insurance.
In my opinion this place is a scam with rude staff
