Services
Wife and husband proprietors, Supannee and Alec House, thought long and hard about what to call their first restaurant. They settled on a combination of her first name, Supannee, and his last name, House. It's a double entendre. Supannee House of Thai! Supannee House of Thai restaurant is the story of families, from Thailand and San Diego; that were joined by love and a mutual dream of sharing Thai cuisine with San Diegans.
Our Thai food catering is healthy and affordable and includes the same farm-to-table ingredients customers enjoy in our restaurant. We specialize in low-cost catering for parties of all sizes and work to create menus which are tailored to your tastes and budget. We serve all of San Diego with service that includes Thai buffet set up in your home or the location of your choice.
Dear Supannee, thanks for making my Valentine's Day dinner so special. Your food was just wonderful. We are enjoying leftovers I look forward to having you here for another holiday celebration. Thank you so much for your incredible help and food for our San Diego reception. It meant the world to us to be able to share your restaurant that means so much to our relationship story with everyone we love.
My passions are cooking, sharing, gardening and taking care of people. Growing up eating fresh vegetables made me want to grow all the veggies in my farm and find the freshest local fish for my customers. I will continue growing veggies and searching the best and local food as much I can.
Weaving a colorful wrap of love, family, Thai-inspired harmony and the passion to serve the freshest and healthiest foods available, Supannee House graciously invites you to her restaurant which is really a little bit like her home. The essence of family traveled all the way from Thailand with Supannee, where she grew up with her nine brothers and sisters on a small rice farm in the Korat District east of Bangkok.

The Thai phrase "Mai bpen rai" is used by Thai people hundreds of times a day and it means "don't worry." By their nature, Thai are happy people with calm smiles on their faces. This is especially true of Chef Wan, who juggles the fast pace of the Supannee kitchen with a calm smile on her face and lots of happy grins.

Service: 4/5
Ying, our waitress, speaks Thai, Lao Vietnamese and English. We enjoyed chatting with her. She was friendly and helpful. Also, liked her pleasant demeanor.
Food: 4/5
- Garlic Chicken Wings ($8.99)-- my husband said it was a little dry. Had good flavors though.
- Spicy Seafood ($18.99)-- very flavorful. Filled with complex spices.
- Gaeng Kiew Wan ($17.99)-- lacked curry. Tasted more of the coconut than curry.
- Rice-- perfectly cooked.

Part of my nostalgia return tour of San Diego just as good as it was 7 years ago. Food is always amazing. I enjoy it spicier than the average bear so I will always ask for extra on the side so I can dump it all on and then ask for more. The thing that brings me back is the duck curry.
I also like that they leave a jug of water on the table for thirsty guys like me.
I am not into wine however the selection they have on display seems excessively large for a thai restaurant. I'll stick to the Thai ice tea.

Honestly, I don't even want everyone to know about here because it's sooo good making me want to be so greedy, keep it all to myself. Word cannot express how FANTASTICO Supannee's food is!!!! It is almost as if you can taste each ingredient and all of our desensitized pallets awakes from the first bite. I literally froze on my first for disbelief all that flavor I tasted. Second or third bites was just as same (I had Thai Basil). Your olfactory opens up like you had never smelled and tasted anything before. I'm not exaggerating because this happened two visits after my first

A deep friendship and common respect of Thai fresh herbs, farm-to-table style cooking and edible flowers has brought @supanneehouseofthai and @thaibysuree together. Along with Suree's daughter Caroline @carolinep.97, the dynamic trio will continue serving the best Thai food San Diego has to offer.
We absolutely loved:
Summer rolls - rice paper rolls with shrimp (or fried tofu), fresh lettuce
leaves, mint, cilantro, shredded red cabbage,
carrots, and cucumbers.
Mixed seafood mango curry - Light red curry with coconut milk, semi-ripe sliced mango, red bell peppers, and Thai basil.

Ordered the pad woon sen with tofu and it was the most bland dish I've had at a Thai restaurant. Very disappointing. The portion size is huge with would normally be awesome but it tasted so flavorless I had to try to spice and flavor it up at home and it still was not good.
On the plus side I ordered the fresh summer rolls and those were great.
Service was great too that's why I rated 3 stars otherwise I would have rated less.

Careful the owner has transferred ownership and the menu has changed. The prices are through the roof and the recipe messed with! My favorite and your favorite dish Kam khao Tod better not be messed with or it's bye bye curtains for this place! The drunken noodles tasted different last week and now I know why . Mrs. Supannee miss you in the House!!

We tried egg plant delight, drunken veg noodles, veg thai fried rice, yellow curry and veg spring rolls.
Spring rolls/ egg rolls were piping hot and tasty but few of them were double fried. Drunken noodles were yum and nice to try. Fried rice was also good. Yellow curry was average dish. Food overall was good. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Everything we got was piping hot and its was delicious to have to beat the cold.

Such great Thai food in a cute area of Point Loma!
We always go to The Wine Pub for happy hour and see that Supannee is packed. We decided to try it recently and loved the food. We were sat quickly, the food came out fast, and everything was fresh and delicious.
They seem to do a roaring trade in takeout also, if you're looking for Thai food at home.

Omg. This place is absolutely worth the hype. The parking lot is small and awful but absolutely worth the parking spot hunt. Ordered the pad thai and red curry with chicken both level 7 spicy. The sauces for the spring rolls were perfect. The rolls were beautiful. The ingredients in both main dishes tasted fresh. The waitress we had was 'PK. C' on our receipt and I wish u could remember her name because she was absolutely so sweet and had great customer service. GO HERE!

My daughter is at PLNU and as we are visiting and wanted Thai food, glad this place is nearby.
Good nice restaurant, seating is spaced out and it's clean. We were greeted as we entered and quickly sat down. Water was served and menus were provided.
We ordered the pad see ewe, whole fish and the Penang curry. The fish and curry came with rice so we didn't have to order.
Very flavorful dishes and we all enjoyed it. We even had leftovers to pack up.
Good service and bill with tax/tip was about $60. Not bad at all for 3 of us to have a nice lunch.

Our family had been eating at this restaurant each time we were in the area. Very authentic Thai food. Love the decor and lighting--made for a very intimate dining experience. Wait could be quite long for large parties and the restaurant parking was bad. Had to park in other area and walked over to the restaurant.
Food tasted great and seemed very consistent during each of our visits. Our favorite rock fish was hit or miss though. Had to knock down a star due to service. Not as quick as other times, had to constantly asked several time for spices or common items.

Blown away by the food, ambiance, and service of Supannee. Really airy and open restaurant with a ton of natural light and semi-booth seatings. Service was very friendly and welcoming. The food, excellent. We shared the nam kao tod (crispy rice salad) per our server's recommendation and it was wonderful. The crispy texture and beautiful classic thai aromas hit it out of the park. The pad kee mao (drunken noodles) was particularly flavorful. My only suggestion would be to have more basil & charring of the noodles for that street food flavor. The pad Thai although good had a strong

This place was fairly new and the location is in a plaza by shelter island. Parking was located in the plaza but spaces were pretty clustered.
The papaya salad was great and it could be a little more spicy and flavor ( spice level 3)
The Tom yum soup was good! The spice level is from 1-8 with 8 being really spicy comparable to Dave's hot chicken "reaper".
The Chicken Satay was okay, not the best on the menu. It was bland and sauces that came with it were alright too (wouldn't recommend)
The Panang Curry was good too! There was a lot of flavor and spice in that one (

Disappointing in the worst way. We arrived at 6:30 pm on Saturday night. This is peak dining time for any restaurant so I had made reservations for my sister's birthday. It was insanely busy. Even after waiting a very long time for our waitress to even greet us, we tried desperately to order food for the next half hour:
1. Hard cider- they were out! ZERO!
2. Lemonade for my son- NONE !!
3. Whole Rockfish- SOLD OUT !!!
4. Tom yum soup w/ shrimp- NO SHRIMP!!!!
5. Pomona- suggested by the waitress as an alternative to rockfish- 3 minutes later she comes back to say... you guessed it- SOLD

Ordered ahead, waiting when I arrived (fairly crowded inside) took with me for nearby concert and WOW 🤩 the flavor would have knocked my socks off if I had any on! I am Asian and have had a lot of Asian foods but Chef’s special sauce for wild salmon was special indeed. Don’t know how I never knew about this place before but, definitely going back!

Well, no thank you! Wasted our money & our time.
Egg shells in the pad se ew. Chicken was under cooked & I don't know thai food down here in San Diego, but this tasted weird.
Their Pad kae mow, aka "drunken noodles" were unedible! FISHY, under cooked chicken, no heat/spiciness. Jeez!
But to top it all off, a waitress in the kitchen area, pull down her mask, took a bite off a plate, I was really hoping it wasn't going down like this, but yep, she brought that same dish out & served it! And her coworker, saw her do it. Didn't even trip! I'm done done!

We came here for lunch yesterday and OMG we were so full. Party of 4 but we ordered too much food. Didn't know how big their portions are, but no regrets. We had leftovers and still so yummy.
Everything that we ordered were delicious. Every single dish but favorites are the Choo chik duck and the crab pad Thai. Delicious. Oh, and their papaya salad is one fo the best I've had so far.
Staff were all so friendly and food came out fast and hot. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Definitely one of the best Thai restaurants in SD.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Great food and beautiful restaurant!
I got Phad Thai (pictured) and requested it to be made as spicy as possible. It was tasty and spicy but not nearly as much as I have had at other Thai restaurants. They do not have Thai chilies here which limits the heat level. Flavor was delicious though!
Service was very friendly and fast in spite of them being packed! No tables were open and there was a short waiting line but I got in within a few minutes and only a few minutes after ordering received the food!
Overall, with great service and delicious food I will go back!

Spring/summer rolls are one of my favorite dishes of all time. They're light, refreshing, and an easy way to eat lot of veggies. When I saw photos of Supannee's rolls with beautiful edible flowers I was so excited for these photogenic rolls. Unfortunately, my expectations and the reality were very different.
Taste wise: it was fine. The vegetables were cut nice and thin, and the shrimp wasn't rubbery. However, instead of full flowers one order had a single petal in each roll and one order had no petals at all. My guess is that they ran out of

This is a Popular Thai restaurant on Shelter Island. We made same day dinner reservations and were lucky to have gotten a spot because it was a busy Thursday evening. So I recommend making a reservation.
I think if they weren't so busy our experience would have been different (more enjoyable), I was starting to think our server forgot about us because it took about 10minutes from the time we sat for her to come to our table.
We ordered drinks and entrees at the same time, our food came out but the drinks never made it to our table...lol. Anyway waitress apologized and made efforts to correct

Was there this past Sunday for a lunch with a friend.
Everything is pkg'd as togo and if you want, there are some outdoor tables / patio dining. It was a little chilly but the hot green tea helped.
We ordered...
- Tom Yum Soup (3 stars), it was nice shrimp and lots of mini mushrooms, last 1/3 of our soup was very sour so we could not finish it
- Drunken noodle with grass fed beef (4 stars), nice cos it has some vegg, beef was tender
- Pineapple fried rice (2 stars), not well made. It seemed like they put curry powder after the rice, instead of blooming in the oil, there were clumps of curry

Solid 4!!
First let me say the customer service was outstanding!
I ordered Drunken Noodles, Summer Rolls and Tom Yum Soup with Noodles! I said spicy, but I could've used a little more heat!
Portions are big and I love it! Packaged well for to go order and let's not forget the flavor! Tasted authentic to me but what do I know haha!
Loved the edible flowers in the Summer rolls, what a nice touch! I will definitely be back to try other items.
