Located in a tropical setting, this family restaurant features a multiple choice of fresh local seafood daily. About 1569 A.D., Fernando D. Phillippi sailed his ship, the "Philly P" up the creek to a point which is now the corner of Bee Ridge Rd. and Beneva. All of the land between Bee Ridge and the island is fill land on which to build condominiums-Fernando was a shrewd real estate investor.

Nice ambiance with attentive wait staff (LOTS of them!). Nice setting overlooking the water, except for low tide….gets “fragrant”. Food was above average. Gumbo was very good. Fish and chips were good. Fish was cooked perfect. “chips” were ordinary. The prices were our least favorite. Much higher than expected and, for fish and chips….well, it was at least 5 dollars more than any other local spot. I supposed you’re paying for the location and favorite of many people. Not sure we’ll come back, a bit too expensive for a fish food restaurant for our liking.

Going thru the reviews prior to arriving I noticed some people complain about any little thing, but this place was amazing! The atmosphere was very neat, sitting out on the pier was nice and peaceful! The food was amazing, I would highly recommend the "baked stuffed flounder" and "gator bites!" Both get five stars! I don't like fishy tasting fish. This was super mild and tasty! Easily enough for my wife and I to share. People complain about the hard seats outside, well bring a pillow then if u can't handle it. wonder what people expect them to have for outdoor seating

The casual atmosphere with picnic table on the river is a bit deceiving. The food is top notch!
The staff are well trained and friendly and well informed about the menu.

It's frustrating when a place has a dish in the name and then doesn't live up to it. I felt the oysters here were very disappointing. They don't disconnect them from the shell which makes them hard to eat and makes you get grit in your mouth. I'm a chef and I've never seen anyone shuck an oyster like that. They tried to say it was just their preferred technique when I asked about it. They also just weren't great tasting oysters.
I had a shrimp cocktail and the shrimp were huge and cooked perfectly, so they were still tender. That was the highlight!

This review is for the outdoor dining experience. Indoor I wouldn't recommend just because when I walked through for the restroom, the smell of bleach was overwhelming. Because of the dockside vibe (lots of wood, humidity, fish smells), I can imagine why a lot of bleach is used, but maybe a rinse cycle or more diluted solution would help?
I also recommend the outdoor dining option because of the view! There is plenty of space between tables and we sat right next to the water. I read other reviews about bugs being active, but it was a perfectly calm night for us and we didn't have

Service was so slow (I mean, so, so slow), but the staff were all very nice and the food was really good. Everyone was very happy with what they ordered. My asparagus and jumbo shrimp were simply delicious. I appreciate that they allow dogs outside. Our little man had a great time, though he really wanted to enjoy the fish with us! Pro tip: the Paella and the Blue Crab are fan favorites. Also, ask for seat cushions if you don't want to sit on the hard wooden bench!

As one Uber driver told us, this is old Florida. Probably a 50-year old building with additions that don't necessarily match. But all are interesting. On the water with water views even from inside. No napkins, just a roll of paper towels on your table. Served in baskets on tin trays. It's a fun place. Most importantly, one of the top seafood meals we had. And big portions because we took leftovers to the hotel. Tiki-type bar in front, eat on a deck out back, lots of inside tables with huge windows. Looked like a lot of locals, which is always a good sign. A good time and good food.

I live in Sarasota, just down from Phillipi Creek, also have been here many times. But yesterday blew my mind. Tiny, grit filled oysters, a dozen, for $32?
Asked all my friends in the seafood business, from New Orleans to Tallahassee, they laughed and said that's robbery. And not even gulf oysters! Really?

Live fly eating lizard entertainment. Yes, lizards are commonplace in FL but only at Phillippi Creek Oyster Bar can you witness nature hunt right next to you on the glass window / rustic woodwork. But really this was our second visit, the first about 25 years ago so finally a Google Review!!!! This IS the freshest seafood restaurant I recollect and I have travelled east cost Boston and Rhode Island and Hilton Head SC as well as Great Lakes farthest north MN, SFO and multiple Hawaii islands. Here, huge fresh peel and eat shrimp that honestly tasted like lobsta. Fried flounder sandwich both fish

Phenomenal. We started with fried gator which was amazing. We also tried oysters for the first time. I wasn't a fan but it's nothing the restaurant did wrong. I just couldn't do it. I had the soft shell crab sandwich with fries (that was amazing), my husband had the garlic baked grouper platter(came with coleslaw and a vegetable).. He loved it!

Great location, great food, everything we got, was on point. Waiters were timely, courteous, and nice! Manager came around and checked on everyone.
We sat outside... and to be considered there were flies.. they can't control that, also no see ums.. so next time I would bring a light spray, before going in, if you sit outside.
There is inside seating.
The boat in the picture is a special, not on the menu, you can ask about it. It absolutely was delish! Great experience here, I

We arrived and saw a bunch of people waiting - but we still got seated within five minutes. The atmosphere was fun and outdoor seating was cute.
Our food was plentiful and delicious. Calamari fried to perfection and the seafood was fresh. Our waitress Brenda was friendly, attentive, and kind. She deserves a raise! The hostess was a gem as well. She checked on us multiple times and accommodated us when we decided to eat indoors.
FYI...the flies outside on the patio/deck can be a nuisance. But that's only natural when eating seafood

My friend has house in Philippi Garden and they took me to their favorite place which is the Phillippi Creek Oyster Bar and I'm so impressed and happy they have the best seafood

This was a pretty cool place with a huge menu and indoor and outdoor dining with a view. They had a ton of menu options, it was hard to decide what to order! You can pretty much get seafood any way you like: steamed,broiled, fried, in a sandwich, pasta, etc. They had things other than seafood as well such as burgers and chicken.

First time in, for lunch. Terrific location on the water with great views onto the creek. Plenty of parking and seating inside and outside on two large decks.
The ambiance is chill, built around larger tables, all umbrella covered outside, with picnic table style seating.
The menus offered daily specials, a pretty nice specialty drink list and wine choices from $8 to $82. I went for the Caribbean Colada which was delicious, and light on alcohol. Perfect for a hot day. My wife opted for a glass of Pinot Grigio.

Excellent, excellent seafood restaurant with views of Phillippi Creek from both the patio seating and inside seating. We tried the Stuffed Mushroom appetizer on the Daily Special menu - they should go on the permanent menu (hint, hint!), the Fried Oyster sandwich and Fish Tacos. Everything was awesome! And if the thought of 'fried' seafood makes you gag you will be pleasantly surprised to find the coating light, airy and not at all greasy. Our server Victor was excellent and answered all questions we had. Our only regret is that we didn't have room for dessert! Maybe next time! We truly enjoyed

We had a stellar evening at Phillippi Creek. It was six of us & we got a nice table on their deck overlooking the water. Three of us shared a pitcher of a local craft IPA. At $15, this is a great value!
The raw oysters we ordered to start were excellent--briny & perfectly chilled, served on a bed of ice. I could make a meal of these.
Our server, Alfredo, was fun-natured & pleasant throughout the evening.
My entree, the Stuffed Flounder, was generously topped with a delicious crab & scallops stuffing, & a really nice portion. I enjoyed the cole slaw & crispy hush puppy
