Youth Services is guided by four core values: trust, safety, connection, and compassion. These values reflect who we are and what we expect from each other. Our values are both the boundaries of our space as well as a compass that helps guide us forward as we move toward our mission. We know the oppressive history of social services in this country has led to mistrust, especially among marginalized groups and individuals.

Therefore we take responsibility to begin the trust-building process. We strive to demonstrate that we are trustworthy through transparency, clarity, and consistency in our work. We value the trust of those who give of themselves through time, treasure, and community support. We recognize the harm that comes from systems of oppression, and operate under the belief that support should be accessible to all.
Services
Youth Services is a nonprofit organization which provides individualized, activities-based mental health care for children and adolescents in Chicago's northern suburbs. With a focus on the social-emotional well-being of our community's youth, we offer a variety of programs which address the individual needs of each child.
Youth Services of Glenview/Northbrook was created from two similar agencies, one serving Glenview (founded in 1972) and the other serving Northbrook (founded in 1974). These entities were merged in 1992 as they had the same mission. The agency originated as a community initiative to create a space for adolescents and teens.
Every day the work done at Youth Services has been aimed to promote the emotional and mental health of all families in our community. The backbone of all we do relies on the promise of hope and equality.

However, we realize that saying it is not simply enough, and despite all we do as a community, many of our clients are faced with the stark reality that the color of their skin does not allow for the same justice, opportunity, investment, or grace. We are dedicated to being a safe space for all who look to Youth Services for support.

I can't personally say what the youth center program itself is like, as I have never attended it. However, my psychiatrist - Dr Mojgan Makki - has been working with me here (as in finding the best medications for treating my depression, mood swings, relatively short temper, and even sleep issues) for a few years now, and she has been a boon for me (for those who don't know, a boon is a good thing)! Dr Mojgan Makki is a pleasure to have as my psychiatrist, and though she is a youth psychiatrist, I didn't start working with her until I was at least 18 years old. I'm 21 years old at the time of this
