Growing up in Portland, Oregon, Karen was always involved in art. She drew a lot and strung love beads in the 60's and aggravated her mother playing in the wax of burning candles, fashioning miniature sculptures. In high school she was drawn to jewelry making, where she took her childhood interests to a more constructive level and learned about wax model carving and lost wax casting.
When you look at my rings you will see an emphasis on color, clean lines, and sculptural shapes, echoing the world around us. Influenced by everything from nature to architecture, jewelry by Karen Bandy of Bend, Oregon is unique and individualistic as well as beautiful. Design and goldsmithing are of the highest quality, Karen's rings are always one-of-a-kind, and very wearable.
You deserve access to world-wide sources for hard-to-find gemstones, ensuring you have the widest selection, not just what is in the display case that day. Search out someone with a record of design excellence recognized by professional organizations. Your designer should be able to use recycled gold and ethically source gems, including Canadian diamonds and fair trade stones.
I'm discovering that I love to paint your animals. I work from photos that you send me, or if you live in Bend I can come take photos for you. We choose the best photo to work from, agree on the size, and then I work in my unique style to paint your beloved animal. You can see examples of that style under 'Paintings' or 'Portfolio'.

Karen Bandy is a fabulous jewelry designer and artist. Over the course of 30 or so years working with her, she has also become a cherished friend. She designed my wedding ring, a diamond pendant, a diamond bracelet to die for and we are currently working on an emerald and diamond pinkie ring. I am now having a second ring designed, an engagement ring using a family heirloom diamond. She is so easy to work with, and asks all the detail questions. She communicates quickly with the progress, and gives a timeline for completion.

For over 21 years I have received compliment after compliment on the beautiful ring Karen worked with me and my husband to design. A wedding ring like no other on earth. My great aunt's European cut yellow diamond and white gold with blue sapphires. The timeless beauty of this ring has been such a blessing. Working with Karen to create such a beautiful peace of jewelry truly was wonderful. The process from start to finish was seamless, organized and every detail explained to make sure I understood what I was getting. I turned an old heirloom engagement ring (I never took off) into an amazing pendant I can show off every day. It was wonderful to work with Karen! I had my great grandmother’s 1950s ring and the setting didn’t work for my active Bend lifestyle. Karen made a custom diamond wedding ring for me that is spectacular! Lots of compliments. She’s very creative. One day I took several stones from a variety of rings, bracelets, etc. to her and said make me something! The result was an awesome necklace. She is my go to person and I highly recommend her!
