Services
In 2005, a group of farmers in the Penns Creek Watershed joined together to direct market their products within our community. Each of these farmers uses environmentally friendly methods to raise a variety of farm products, including vegetables, herbs, dairy products, eggs, meats, and berries.
By joining together to coordinate growing, marketing, and distribution, GroundWork Farms aims to provide an abundant and reliable source of fresh, healthy foods to grocery stores, restaurants, and individuals. We are currently laying the groundwork for an effort that may one day evolve into a farmer-owned cooperative, supporting a large number of local farmers and supplying food to a great many members of our community.

Benuel and Sarah Lapp of Rebersburg are long-time produce growers who also manage a certified organic dairy farm. Their vegetables are raised without the use of any chemicals and are marketed primarily through GroundWork's CSA. Mary and Raymond Fisher raise a variety of vegetables on their farm located between Millheim and Rebersburg.
Our produce farmers grow a wide variety of vegetables and melons. Each growing season is a little bit different, depending on temperatures, rainfall, etc. but here is a brief description of what you might find in your share boxes during the course of the season. The first few boxes in the spring tend to feature our cool-season crops such as lettuce, kale, spinach, peas, spring onions, radishes, beets, etc.
Raw Milk We offer whole, unpasteurized milk from our herd of mostly Jersey cows. Many people who cannot drink pasteurized milk can drink raw milk. Raw milk contains numerous beneficial enzymes, fragile milk proteins, vitamins C, B12 and B6, and many beneficial bacteria, all of which are destroyed by the pasteurization process.
GroundWork Farms aims to provide fresh, healthy foods to all members of our community, particularly those who would not otherwise have access to these products.
Since our start in 2005, we have provided weekly donations to the Women's Resource Center (now called Centre Safe) in State College, and in 2008 we began working with Strawberry Fields Incorporated, a non-profit agency that provides services to Centre County residents with developmental disabilities or mental illness.
