For those who know Sam Lewis, Wear The Fund (WTF) is his Fort Myers-based company, which specializes in screen printing, embroidery and promotional items. However, what he feels makes him different in this ultra-competitive field is that he's taken a well-intentioned business idea and "put it on steroids."

Screen Printing is the process of printing a variety of inks through a silk screen. Ancient China used silk that is, the screen is a polyester synthetic mesh now days. Images are exposed onto the screens using film positives and a dark room light exposure process. The dyed fabric is coated with pigments from a water "base" that is evaporated off in the conveyor dryer.
A heat press is essentially a large iron that clamps down onto a garment with substantial pressure, to apply some form of a "heat transferred" decoration. Our heat presses have max area of 16"x20". Plastisol ink is screen printed first onto a transfer paper, coated with an adhesive powder, and then pressed onto garments.
With the technology first coming to the commercial market in 1996, you can imagine how quickly like everything else it has advanced. Direct-to-Garment or "DTG" printing is perfect for high quality images in small production runs. It also requires at least 50% (ideally 100%) cotton for the fabric it prints.

Our company has been using WearTheFund for our uniform shirt needs for over a year now and we love them!! They do excellent work our embroidered logos always look crisp and pop! Amazing! We sent out our print to Sam and he was quick to respond with the information I needed from him. We sent him the shirts which were a variety of styles and fabrics. They adjusted the graphic as needed for a few ladies wanting crop tops and it looks amazing. The whole team is super stoked with our new holiday shirts. I worked with Wear The Fund to make shirts for my Relay for Life team. Not only did they go out of their way to make my design idea come to life, they also guaranteed the shirts were there in plenty of time despite ordering only 2 weeks before the event. The quality was great and in addition to giving me the best price I could find anywhere, they gave 10% of my order back to charity! Great to see a company that puts that much pride into their work, and cares just as much about the community around them.
